Overclocking my MSI Duke 1080ti

Is it worth overclocking my 1080ti? If so what should I overclocking it to and what should I change? I was going to download MSI afterburner if it is recommended.

For what purpose would you be OC your 1080?

Honestly, I can’t see much reason to do that other than to put more wear on your card than necessary.

11GB of memory and 11GHz clock is gnarly out the gate. Make that puppy last as long as it will and at the least you will be able to resell it for a higher value.

I would just do it to get higher FPS when playing in 4K but I was looking into it and it doesn’t seem like a big difference to wear my card out faster. I have no complaints at all just wish I could get a little more than 55-60 FPS in 4k

What game on what settings is this? Also anything over 60+ FPS truly isn’t very noticeable to the eye.

Why would you not overclock it? It's literally free extra performance.
If you're not a complete idiot, you're not going to kill a card with overclocking.

That’s why I was asking what to Overclock it to because I don’t know anything about it and I didn’t want to do something dumb and destroy my 1080ti lol

No one said you would "kill it" firstly, and "free extra performance" I hope is an exaggeration. There is no such thing as free performance and the gain that you would achieve (even if you undervolted and boosted the clock) would be so minimal that it would not even be close to worth it.

TLDR; You generate more heat and consume much more power with little gain. Not worth it.

You more than likely wouldn't end up doing any damage to your card, just don't OC it. Take my advice.
Overclocking an 1080Ti is basically throwing money through the window. Be aware that OC can damage your GPU.

I would easily OC a 200$ GPU, not a 1000$
Okay thanks guys I’ll hold off and won’t OC it
