Hey Hf,

I make beats and they aren't bad but I'm having trouble trying to make that 808 mafia sound. Does anyone know how to make the 808 hit or mimic that sound?

99.99% of people use samples. As for getting the 808 mafia sound.. just get southsides sample packs or something

To make the sound you need to break down what it is.
It’s a sine wave with a high attack and a decay/release to your preference. Majority of it comes down to the tail made with the release.
My adsr setting would be like
Attack: fast
Decay: fast
Sustain: low
Release: moderate/long

That’s all their is for the foundation of the 808 sound. The rest you can do with processing. Distortion/saturation, compression, eq, layering, etc.

Will wanna low pass it too. Maybe a small bell curve around 80Hz

I always put a saturator w a low bias on bass sounds.

Personally I hate using samples. Hate it. I've done 1 or 2 beats out of 100 with samples. A few of my beats have the 808 mafia sound but not the amount I would like. I STILL NEED a solid teacher. I try the Youtube videos but I can't learn that way and it's really frustrating at this point.

The Zebco 808 isn't worth fixing, just buy a new one or stop using Spincasters.

If you don’t want to use samples you better get very familiar with synthesis.
