Python

Can you get a job without a degree?

What do you guys think, can you get a job from learning python without a degree from a college institute ?
If you already know your way around the language, you could just be working for yourself on freelancing platforms instead.
Yes you can, I've seen numerous people doing developer jobs after doing bootcamps or the like but no degree.

Its 100% possible to get a dev job with no degree, its all how you present yourself and your portfolio since you don't have a degree to backup your knowledge in the eyes of a potential employer. The market will be a lot harder though because you will need to sort of prove yourself since preference will be given to someone with a degree still in most cases.

Like others have said, you can also do a lot of freelance work as well.
Without a degree? Hard but possible
Only with python? Heck no!

From my experience you never use one programming language or one technology in any job out there. Even if you work at huge companies you will always end up using at least 2 languages. Maybe not all the time, but you will need to have the skills nevertheless. So getting a job only by knowing python....no...(ok maybe as a freelancer :p). But most importantly is not just about programming languages or technologies. It is also about general(scratch that, in depth!) understanding on how computers, algorithms, technologies...and many more....work.

Get a job without a degree is not impossible though but it depends on many factors, like the type of the job, the company itself, the boss' mentality, your skills etc. The problem with not having a degree on the related field is that traditional-minded recruiters might not recognise your value. I remember when I was a 2nd and 3rd year student how some recruiters underestimated me because they thought I didn't have the skills to help them.
I have worked with people though who didn't have a degree on Computer Science or Engineering but had a master's on Computer Science or a degree on something like Telecommunications which is not irrelevant with Computer programming.

It is possible in my opinion but one must understand that if he/she wants to be as qualified as a person with a degree there is no skipping hard work. So by watching a couple of courses in python won't help you.
Yes, if you can tick off these things:

- Broad dynamic portfolio
- Evidence of learning (certs)
- Work experience/group work/freelance examples
- Ability to use any language specific to the industry you want to work in, video game programmers require different code skills to that of web developers etc
- Open to criticism and eager to learn more on the job
You can but you would need a history or at least examples of past work. Degrees definitely make it easier tho.

Definitely, past work & experience is important though. Work on some open-source projects, release some code so that a possible employer can see that you write quality code.

Not sure if Python alone does it but if you find a company that mainly uses Python that probably works.
Yeah maybe. Probably not because you will be competing with people with degrees, you will most likely then end up finding that you don't actually know how to program in comparison to some of the brighter coworkers you have with degrees.

Not insulting your programming abilities, you could be amazing. It's just I know a lot of people who are self taught have massive holes in crucial areas of knowledge to be working in the industry.

Feel like if you know python if you can create a good enough porfolio and set yourself up in linkedin in or whatever then you can get a job like that. Or if you know python a good amount you can yes possible create a freelance buisness or if you are looking to go help other companies and if you are good with python show them your work and yeah, just gotta be interesting, remember a degree is just paper but skills are power.
Yes. I work in IT consulting and part of my job is helping corporations learn hiring practices as well as interview practices. Many of my clients hire based on portfolios and interviews. While a degree does help in a lot of more complex CS jobs (data science, cryptography, etc.), for general purposes you can expect (within reason) that you can get a job without a degree in CS.

Sure you can. You just need to work extra hard.

SneakyBoots Discord or HF convo me.
it is hard to find. For example, I haven't patience to work so hard, so I applied to a course
