Hello, I don't see a discussion thread on this anime, so I thought I'd create one.
This anime is also known as, "Kami no Tou".
Quote:Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a vast and mysterious Tower, with only his close friend, Rachel, to keep him company. When Rachel enters the Tower, Bam manages to open the door into it as well, and faces challenges at each floor of this tower as he tries to find his closest companion.
You can find more about the anime, here: https://myanimelist.net/anime/40221/Kami_no_Tou
It's highly recommended to keep your posts in spoilers, but there is no way to enforce that since this is a discussion thread and anything goes. Don't get upset if you read something and you aren't up-to-date with the current episodes.
As for me, I shall use spoiler codes for the first three episodes. After that, I will not use the spoiler code anymore.
I am excited to see what the new spring season has to offer for us. With that being said, I enjoyed my first episode of watching Tower of God.
Before I get into the review, I wanted to talk about the OP. I thought it sounded pretty K-Pop-esque and it turns out that Stray Kids, a K-Pop group, sang the OP and the ending. I knew that I've heard those voices before. My dear friend Soulmate~っ☆ told me how this is based on a manhwa so it makes sense why it had a Korean group perform the opening.
I hate looking at MAL reviews because people on MAL are absolute idiots and it pains me to read what they have to say. Regardless, I like to read some of the discussion threads to jumble a bunch of ideas to write about in my review posts.
So with that being said, I noticed a common trend. The anime being liked was 50/50. There was a good amount of positive reactions and also a good amount of negative reactions.
The first thing that I noticed people talking about was the art style. I'll go more into that later. Also, people felt the first episode was rushed.
I think the art style was nice and refreshing. It's something new we haven't seen in a while and it was pleasing for me to see. I thought the colors in certain parts of the episode were very vibrant and bright. Not as much as the colors in Somali-chan from last season, but enough to catch my attention.
I can agree slightly regarding the pacing of the episode. I felt like it was a little bit rushed, but I also think it's people overreacting. Overall, a good first episode in my opinion. It kept me hungry for more and I am excited to have started this series.
Love is a strong emotion. I'm sure the love Bam has for Rachel is going to be what thrives and keeps him going, which is obvious as he was able to pass the first test. I believe this love that he has for Rachel is going to make him stronger and stronger. Not only that but the tests he will have to go through will for sure Bam not only stronger physically but mentally. I believe Bam will get a decent amount of plot armor. However, as I said, he'll have to earn it and I'm sure we'll see him learn something new every episode.
I'm wondering where this love will take him. Does Rachel love him back as much as Bam loves her? She was quick on leaving him and going to the tower.
The characters weren't anything special so far. The ones who died probably won't return of course, but going back to the spacing thing, I felt the characters who did die early on were super rushed. The girls we've seen so far have been pretty cute though! I'm interested to see what other cuties will be in the anime. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Yuri and meeting Endorsi. Rachel, I don't care too much about it.
I liked the selection of voice actors we've heard so far. They can get the job done and I didn't have any complaints. I did pick up on Rachel's voice actress being Hayami Saori and Headon's voice actor being Ootsuka Houchuu who I recognized as Jiraiya from Naruto.
I'm assuming the weapon that Bam was given, Black March is a super strong or important item that might be well-known or something. Considering that Rak or whoever the heck his name is was able to smell his presence. Additionally, he was able to smell some lizard girl's presence and her weapon had the same marking as Black March so I'm interested in knowing more about her if we get to see her next episode.
I'm wondering what will happen next episode as we were left at a cliffhanger. Some idiots on the MAL discussion thread said that they hated that. Why would you hate that? It should make you want to keep watching for more. It's there to lure you to watch next week's episode. I swear those people on that site are dumb.
What do you guys think so far?
Haven't watched the first episode yet, had to get my Haikyuu fix first, but CR has been hyping this for the last month or so, and I have been eager to jump on this ASAP.
Read the first line of the spoiler, and yes I am also excited for this season of anime to come.
I like the art style but I'm still skeptical how it'll play out.

I'm looking forward to next week's episode. I'd like to state first that I don't drop anime, I am a "completionist" when it comes to anime. With that being said, I'm hoping the next two episodes will give me the chance to figure out if I'm going to like this anime or not.
Going to check it out now that you posted about it. My buddy watched it and has similar feelings as you.

Episode two!
I'm still not hooked on this anime, but from my observations, it seems that the second episode was much more enjoyed by the community than the first. I guess I can agree with that. Despite being slow for me, (some people thought the pacing was better) there was a lot more going on. Originally, I was going to say "interesting stuff", but I felt like this episode wasn't too interesting.
I'm assuming something is interesting about Khun like maybe his family is a branch one and he is a cousin or something of the royalty family, Jahad. Speaking of Jahad, we were able to see Anak Jahad this episode, a very powerful swordswoman (reptile).
Anak's fight with Hatz wasn't anything special because we didn't get an in-depth view of it, but I am sure they are two interesting characters who are going to be strong.
In my opinion, with Rak, Khun, and Bam working together, I already know Bam is going to be successful. There's just no way he fails the tests. Plot armor as I say a million times for various anime I've posted a discussion post on. Khun, as I said before, something is interesting about him. Also, you can tell he is a little fishy and I think he has more motives than just teaming up with Bam. There's something he wants from Bam. Possibly the sword, who knows we'll for sure learn more about it in the future.
My favorite voice actor returns yet again, but this time in a new season! Tsuda Kenjirou, my favorite male voice actor, voices the role of Lero Ro and from what we have seen from those who are Rankers, they aren't one to mess with.
I'll admit that even though I said this episode was slightly boring, I am excited to continue watching it.
I do hope the tests get harder and we get sucked into some epic storyline. At the moment the tests have been easy or unimpressive to me.
Also, I want to see more of the Jahad family! So far all of the girls in that family are cute.
Lastly, I wonder if we'll see Bam be able to unleash Black March once again. Additionally, it makes me wonder if his sword will be revealed and Anak or someone else from the Jahad family notice. It seems they are the only ones who are wielders of these weapons, as it has their crest (I'm assuming their crest) and how Khun is so interested in it.
never imagine this webtoon anime release. i am looking forward to this and i hope solo leveling is the next one!
I have seen this on crunchyroll for me didn’t seem interesting but also haven’t watched or heard about I before you recommend to watch?

The first two episodes were slow but it looks like it will hopefully start picking up soon. People are giving it outrageous ratings such as high 8-10 when only two episodes have aired. Of course, you should never follow the ratings on MAL as everyone their is full of sh*t.
First episode was eh, but the second episode is a bigger improvement so the anime does have potential. A lot of the anime this season hasn't been too impressive but so far this is on my good tier list.
It shows a lot of promise; recently I've felt like Shonen that are set up to create a long expanding series can be pretty low quality, especially at the beginning (I'm looking at you black clover). But this seems to be pretty nice out of the gate, isn't too cliche and doesn't feel the need to give the viewer endless amounts of exposition in order to introduce them to the world, it kind of just throws you right in and I'm hoping that they can continue this route and unveil the mysteries of the tower slowly through world-building and interesting narrative - only time will tell.
I've always liked tower and competition arcs in anime, especially the one in HxH so the idea of a series that seemingly bases itself around that seems really appealing to me. I will keep watching to figure out more about this world.
Episode three.
I enjoyed episode three very much. I was curious to know more about Khun and his intentions and we got a little backstory about his past. To me, he is still suspicious, but after today's episode, I will cut him some slack.
The third test they had to complete might not have been the most entertaining, but I think it was a good team-building one. Although Bam's team didn't work together, it brings Khun closer to them and I thought that was good. I like how they aren't the "strongest" trio at the moment. We still have yet to see them in action working together when it comes to combat.
We see that Anak is great at combat and can take down a three-man team by herself. While the fight scene wasn't too impressive, and it was fairly obvious that she would fend for herself, I will admit that she's a strong opponent and her team does catch my interest.
I think the next episode we will see Bam's team enter the fourth test. After possibly seeing Rachel, this will pique Bam's interest. After seeing how Anak is strong, this piqued Rak's interest. I still don't know what's going on through Khun's mind, but he might be interested.
Next week's episode is going to be a nice one for sure! I am tired of all these non-combat tests. I do understand them and I think that they do add to the story, but I'm ready for some action!
After reading some other posts on MAL I see a few complaints:
Pacing is weird and the story was changed a little bit with Anak's fight. I haven't read the Manwha so this doesn't affect me too much.
I also found some dude who everyone is ganging up on and I find it hilarious. I can't deny that for certain anime discussion threads I've posted on, I critique it negatively, but thankfully no one has ganged up on me. This is just too funny not to enjoy it.

I would post the reactions, but there are too many people @ him. 'Tis some good drama. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Noooooooooo, why all the manga I read end up anime? :'''''(
If I knew would have waited for anime
I love the art style for this it follows the Manwha art style.
There are a lot of things I want to discuss for this episode. I'd like to start by saying that this anime is getting way too much hype. Nothing too interesting has happened yet, but I will admit the anime is starting to pick up its pace. The reason I say this is because a majority of the people on MAL are giving this anime outrageous ratings already.
Don't get me wrong, I've rated anime three episodes in (ex. being Kakushigoto, Houkago Teibou, Yesterday wo Utatte). However, the reason I rate them is that there is already substance within the anime. There is already stuff to base the rating off of. Good characters, funny characters, good plot, good pacing, etc. However, with Tower of God, I have not seen anything impressive and thus, makes me wonder why people are giving this anime such a high rating overall?
In addition to my small little research of this anime, I have noticed in the discussion forums that the people are saying this anime is the best there is, the best of the season, and if you don't like this you are an idiot, etc. Also, I have noticed the ones who state their opinion saying the anime isn't too good yet, or it's boring, they instantly get slammed on by the keyboard warriors who can't handle someone else not liking something they don't! Hey, if you are reading this and you are upset because I said I don't like Tower of God yet, tell me! I won't care!
With episode four, I noticed a majority in the discussion stated that the fourth episode was the best one so far. Multiple people saying, "5/5" "The episode was great!"
The only reason I believe people are saying this is because of the action we got in this episode. Yes, we finally get some more action. However, the action we got was very boring and it didn't add anything to the story. The banter between the characters added more to the story than the fighting itself, and even the banter was a bit on the slow side too.
Some things I'd like to say about the character design is that I like how there is no crazy looking character. Meaning, they all look pretty plain, nothing special about them. Additionally, there is no "spot the main character" meme when you see a group of characters chatting or about to fight. The more "lame" characters can be strong and the more "cool" ones can be weak. I do like that.
It looks like the sleeping bag guy is useful and isn't just a meme character. He can control shinsu through the use of magic. This is probably why it was so easy for him to pass through the shinsu waterfall in the previous tests. Originally, I thought only those who completed all the tests and made it to the top of the tower were able to control shinsu? I guess anyone can possess the power to learn it, however, the ones who complete the tower must have stronger shinsu control as it would make sense since Lero-Ro is so strong. One last thing about the sleeping bag guy is his voice actor is Golem from Somali to Mori no Kamisama, Ono Daisuke!
I felt like Anak was a little brat in this episode. But before I go into that, I'll talk about her using her Green April. The weapons she has with the Green April seem endless. She can turn it into a whip, a sword, and we also can see that she can increase the size of it making it tremendously big. The fight scenes between her team and the other were pretty lame, but we learn a little bit more about the Jahad's through her.
Unless you are like me, looking through the character list, you would have no idea Anak was a princess. It baffles me so many people didn't know she was one, but I can't argue since it was never mentioned. You just have to assume that since she shares the same last name as the other Jahad princesses she is one.
Due to her strong powers and usage of the Green April, the Black March reacted to it. Maybe the Black March wanted to show off Bam's ability and prove Anak that she isn't as powerful as she thinks she is? Either way, it got Anak's attention. They made a bet to see whoever makes it to the final round, Anak's team, or Bam's team. Whoever wins will get the other person's weapon.
The next episode will be interesting for sure. I think that it can go either way. We know that Anak's team is disqualified so it's up to Bam's team to hold the fort. I think Bam's team will win or there will be some sort of tie/deathmatch I forgot what it's called. He'll win the Green April, but because he is a nice person he'll just ask Anak to keep the Green April and just give him the respect as the temporary owner of the Black March.
On the way back to her cell, a character we haven't met yet whispers something to her. We don't hear it, but we see her mouth move. Whatever she said, it has something to do with Anak being an imposter. It had me thinking, maybe Anak is just like Bam. An outsider with a Jahad princess weapon. Is it because she is a lizard and not a human like Yuri is?
Towards the beginning of the episode, at first glance, the girl that Bam notices looks like Rachel. At the end of episode three, we wonder, is it her? To the viewer's eye, it resembles Rachel. It looks like she's on the team of the mysterious girl we haven't met yet. Bam says it couldn't be her because she's not like that. However, at the end of the episode, we learn that it is indeed Rachel.
Rachel says, "Don't betray people, especially girls", yet at the end of the episode is okay with Endorsi, who the mystery character is, to kill off Bam's team. Does this mean Rachel is a fraud all along? What are her true intentions? Especially with Bam? For those who are unaware, Endorsi is another Jahad princess. And this makes me wonder if we'll be seeing a third Jahad weapon.
We haven't learned much about the Jahad princesses yet, but I am sure we will get an explanation in a future episode.
One last thing I'd like to mention is how are there 13 weapons, but there are only 12 months? Someone mentioned it had to do with the moons instead of the months, but maybe we'll get an explanation on that too.
