Hello and welcome! This tutorial will cover how to setup a a dynamic proxychain using the tor network. Proxychains is a useful Linux-platform program that helps aid with evasion and privacy online. The only requirements for this tutorial is a stable internet connection and a terminal. Lets begin.
First, open up a system Terminal. It is best to check that you in fact have both Proxychains and Tor, and that they're updated and running correctly. This tutorial can technically be followed on other Linux distributions (such as Arch, Ubuntu, etc) but if you're using Kali Linux, Proxychains and Tor should already be installed. To update or install/update, open your terminal and individually enter in both of these command statements:
Code
apt-get install tor
apt-get install proxychainsDue to a recent change in Kali Linux, the development team decided to remove the default Root user and combine permissions with your custom user account. If you're running an upgrade of Kali that has this feature, or you're operating off of a regular user account, then you may need to include the sudo command before entering in each statement above. When done, it should look something similar to this:

Once that is done, you're ready to edit the configuration file in Proxychains to enable your dynamic chain. To do this, enter in the command statement below:
Code
cd /etc
gedit proxychains.confYou should make note of two things: first, I have gedit (text editor) installed by default. You may not have this. Substitute the gedit command out if you have an alternate text editor installed. You may also need to utilize the sudo command again as well. It should look like this:

Once you've done this, your text editor should open, displaying the contents of Proxychains configuration file. You will see two options: strict_chain and dynamic_chain. By default, dynamic chain will have a hash in front of it, and strict wont. You want to reverse this so strict becomes disabled and Proxychains routes a dynamic chain instead. It should look something like this:

Next you will want to choose which type(s) of proxies you want to have in your dynamic chain. You can choose from SOCKS 4 & 5, and HTTP proxies. The SOCKS4 optoin should be already entered by default. Regardless, this is up to you. Here is an example:

As you can see in the image above, you need to enter in a space and put 127.0.0.1:9050 after your choice. Port 9050 is Tor's default port and 127.0.0.1 will be your loopback address for masking the traffic.
When you're done editing your configuration file, save. If for whatever reason you are unable to save (even with sudo) this is most likely due to a user permission settings. If this is the case, exit your text editor and type in your terminal:
Code
chmod +x proxychains.confAt this time you will want to run Tor's service on your system. To do this, enter in the command statement:
Code
service tor startLike before, if you're unable to complete this step, add sudo in front your statement. If the service has started correctly, you should get another blank prompt. It will look something like this:

Congratulations! At this point you are ready to utilize Proxychains. Keep in mind that this program wont run unless Tor's service has been started. This must be done every time. Here is an example of Proxychains anonymizing connections through Mozilla Firefox:

Warning: When trying to anonymize certain tools (like SQLMAP) you must run the command "proxychains" before every statement as it won't carry through to the next one. Example:
Code
proxychains sqlmap -u "http://localhost:8081"
proxychains sqlmap -u "http://localhost:8081" -c CARDS
proxychains firefox
proxychains nikto -h 127.0.0.1:53
...etcCheers 👍
