Icon Library Upgrade

HF has been using the Font Awesome 4.7 icon pack for some time now. It has served us well but it's not perfect. The problem is the limited availability and some style differences. Step forward Font Awesome 5.x. Let's see what kind of improvement it can offer.

FA 4 (Free): ~675 icons

FA 5 (Free): ~1588 icons

FA 5 (Pro): ~7842 icons

So simply upgrading to the FA 5 free version will more than double the icons we can choose from when styling HF. It's also extremely likely that we will opt-in for the pro version, giving us considerably more icon choices (more than 10x what we had before).

Anyway... today I am in the process of upgrading HF's Font Awesome library from 4.x to 5.x.

You will notice that icons will look slightly different now. Observe:

These are the new FA5 icons. They are mostly the same as what you are use to, but just slightly updated because of the FA 5 upgrade.

So this thread serves to let you know you will be seeing these changes and also as a way for us to help make this upgrade as smooth as possible. It isn't as simple as just changing over a file. Many icons on HF will break and likely appear as nothing at all or an empty square.

If you see them, please report them here. I will keep an active list of icons that need to be fixed. Thank you.

To Do
- PM Inbox Envelope Icon (read / unread / etc) fixed
- User CP Nav Icons fixed
- Login / Register Desktop Icons fixed
- Jump to Post Icon fixed
- Thread Footer Icons (Subscribe, PDF, etc) fixed

If some icons are still broken be sure to clear your cache or reload these files and check again:

Why are there no other replies? Weird.

Anyway, thread footer icons are broke too.
I love Font Awesome, it's a really good choice for icons. I'll likely need to do the same on my websites here soon, thanks for the idea.

You should make a page where you can reset all of the cache for when you push updates. There’s the universal windows.location.reload(true) and the sorta-new https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs...che/delete

Just a thought
I noticed these about 2 hours ago while I was making a few threads and I wasn't sure if it was just me or just me. Really hap[py to see these icons changed.
