Armed Forces

Have you ever thought about joining armed forces or police in your life?

If you were given the chance, would you join or stay away from such organizations?

if i was born in the US where the military actually has power and position in the world i would consider it. as my home country has a puny military that is frankly laughable i never considered it personally.

When I was a stupid young kid I've already wanted to get in the police department.

15 years later i'm a lazy ass weed smoker :')

My cousin was in the Canadian Army but he died in Afghanistan... hope he's in peace now
I've thought about it. There are many benefits but I doubt I would be able to continue coding and running websites for income etc.
I did four years in the US military. I can't say that I would ever consider doing it again, but I definitely don't regret the experience.

When I was younger (in my early teens), it was my dream to become a police officer. You imagine lots of things when you are younger, good times.

US forces are good, but during the Afghanistan war, pretty sure Australian special forces led that fight and still today do a great job there.

We have had Victoria Cross medal winners come out of that particular war, some gave their lives for their country. British forces led the fight for Helem and many died in that bloody war. US didn’t do much.
I would join a private military organization if i could. But im too unsporty for that, so i will never do.
I love uniform man/woman, i cant do it
I did a little under a year in the Finnish Coastal Brigade. All Finnish men are obligated to serve 6-12 months in the military. Good times, a great growing experience.
I have heavily considered joining the police force.

I want no part in state terrorism and that's what most modern wars are. In case of an invasion of my country I'd be happy to join a militia and take part in guerrilla fighting, but why would I want to be part of an army that is sacrificed like lamb, see nothing wrong with murdering civilians and toppling governments in other countries and on top off that doesn't stand a chance against any realistic invader because of decades long mismanagement? It sounds noble to "fight for your country", but in this day and age you're most likely fighting for corporate/political interests and there are zero benefits for you.

As for police, no I do not want to work alongside some of humanity's worst or take part in assault and kidnapping of people who commit victimless crimes. Again, in another system where the police worked for the people and not the state I'd consider it.
i hate three things. racism, sexism and white men.
Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong.

When I was much much younger I would have considered something like this as I was a homeless kid and needed direction, but I never went that route.
I had a friend who went into the marines and he ended up getting hurt like 2 years into it so he could get out because he hated it so much, he said it was nothing but cigarettes and getting yelled at all the time lol.

I would not have made it in the armed forces anyway, I am not that kinda guy nor am I cut out for that sort of physical work and labor, I am a verified keyboard warrior and prefer to keep it that way.

I do however appreciate the men and woman who do decide to risk their lives to protect our freedoms, protect us from enemies both domestic and international, just not for me.
I used to be in and I enjoyed it as I had a desk job and helped Mevget the job I have today! I sure as hell wouldn't go back tho haha
I was going to enlist when I was a teen, but my parents weren't in the best of health and I figured I could work two jobs and provide for them and be a better son if I stuck around, so I went straight into work instead. Part of me still wishes I had gone through it, because I'd love to serve and be part of that larger community but I'm glad I've been able to help them and be physically there when I was needed.
