I realize we can't sell steam game keys, but are we allowed to give them away? I have several and was thinking if putting them up as prizes for some contests in my crew. Thanks in advance and sorry if it's made clear in the Help Docs and I just missed it.

I'm not positive about this seeing you're not selling them.

However putting them in a contest thread rather than a giveaway thread would be the better of the two in my opinion. I know NFA's are banned from giveaways and a Steam account technically falls into that category as well, but putting one in a contest thread where someone has the chance of winning the item might be a different case, but again this is just speculation.

Just wait and see what a Staff member says about it.

Right on. I'm waiting for them to weigh in. My tentative plan is to have a few keys as the first second and third place prize for the scavenger hunt I'm planning. If staff so it's no good, then I'll just do bytes as prizes. But I have keys just lying around so I figured might as well, ya know?

You are not allowed to sell or giveaway serial or activation keys/codes to any product unless you created the product. It doesn't matter how they were obtained.

We recommend you take the time to read the HF Help Documents section. The answer to your questions should be contained in there.

If you can't sell them, you can't give them away.

You can however give away a steam account or accounts.
