Finding Phone Using IMEI? Questions & Possibility?

Hello there,

Someone stole my phone while I was overseas and the police do not seem to care. The phone is very important as it has a bunch of work documents. I have a bunch of questions I would like to ask about this. I did look through previous posts and there doesn't seem to be a reliable answer for this. Even online I see a lot of contradicting answers with some telling me yes while others telling me no. I do not have any software that will help track my phone, so you will literally just have the IMEI or serial number.

Question 1) First, I want to know if it's even possible to do? I do not have anything else since the person threw my sim away.
Question 2) If it's possible, how much would it cost me? I wouldn't mind paying up to $300 or slightly more if needed.
Question 3) How accurate is it? if it works?
1. No.
2. Not a chance.
3. See 1 and 2.

It's gone. Devices with work documents should always have a way for remote wiping or automatically be wiped within a time period if they aren't network connected.

Thanks for the straight forward answer. What programs would you recommend in future phones that may be helpful if I was in the same situation? Do you have anything that's more hidden than findmyiphone...etc. What programs would you recommend for remote wiping on phone?

If you have Apple, just contact Apple.
As for Android, I recommend staying logged in with Google.
Encrypt your phone on start up.
As long as the phone is on, you can track it on "Find my Android" on google.

And. Pay attention. Human negligence is an issue for most device/network compromises.
