What is a bruteforce attack?
It's a method of password cracking that typically uses a word dictionary to do so. So, imagine automating thousands of potential password inputs until you finally get lucky.

do you need the persons email or something like that to start a bruteforce attack?
As far as i know (not that much). Yeah, you need the e-mail, all you do is have for example, a gigantic .txt file with millions of combinations of letters/numbers/symbols, and a program to run each one of those combinations until finding the matching password.

I would definitely suggest knowing what you want to bruteforce before-hand.

Along with knowing what you want to brute-force...it's also good to know WHO you are bruteforcing. Password profilers like cupp will ask you for info on your victim so that it can help generate passwords. You can find videos about cupp on youtube and on places like nullbyte.com(a site for whitehat's)...
It is automating using thousands of potential password inputs to get the right one.
