How fast can you type? Do you use all you fingers?

How fast can you type, also do you use all the fingers?
I'm currently typing at the speed of somewhere in the ballpark of 55 to 70 WPM with 4 fingers.

Wbu?
I once was at over 100 but seems like i didn't write much the last months lol at 70 xD
I'm typing pretty fast, the only finger I don't use is the pinky. Last time was like 104+ WPM.
Back when I used to do typeracer with friends at school, my average was around 140-160 WPM. But when you are doing things like writting essays or programming, you just can't really do this because you have to process what you are wanting to type and my brain seems to be slow in that department. As I'm typing this I am probably writing at like 120WPM-ish but in essays I would be typing at like 100 because of my slow ass brain.
I usually cap out around 95 WPM.
That might be because I type with like 6 fingers max

My typing can not be considered as very fast (I am trying to improve this). But yes I use my 8 fingers for this.
120wpm. I use like 5 fingers. Shitty typing habits from when I was a kid.

I think regardless of your typing habit, this is pretty good speed of typing.

It is. But if I typed correctly I would estimate I'd be around the 150wpm.

That's nice. You can still try to improve this.

I believe the last time that I tried it was 90-100 ish. I type with all of my fingers. I only use my right pinky for Enter for the most part, and my right thumb when I press Ctrl + Enter.

Yeah, I'm using like four fingers too.

I type like I play games.. So that's the issue.
I type with all my fingers but predominantly with my two pointers. I first learned to type with two fingers, and as I learned the layout of my keyboard (and that you should properly type with all your fingers) I started tying with a mixture.

Like when I type the word "pointer" it goes:
P : (right pointer finger)
O : (right pointer finger)
I : (right pointer finger)
N : (right pointer finger)
T: (left pointer finger)
E: (left middle finger)
R: (left pointer finger)

Or the word "apple":
A : (left ring finger)
P : (right middle finger)
P : (right middle finger)
L : (right pointer finger)
E : (left middle finger)

Basically, if the letter I need first is closer to the outside edges of the keyboard, then my pointer finger finds it and I work my way back into the center of the keyboard (or until I switch to picking letters with my other hand on the other side).

This applies most of the time, unless it feels more natural and convenient for another finger to press the farther keys, like when I type "apple" and I use my middle finger for the "P"s so my pointer finger naturally can fall on the "L" after.

(when I type emails and passwords the above can either stick or go out the window, depending on when I made the password/email and how I was typing at the time)

It's a bit odd, and it's the result of me trying to reteach my brain later in life to do something properly, after already being proficient in doing it the wrong way.

If I could go back and do it right, I would. But I'm not the slowest typer, probably somewhere around 85-95WPM, so no need to try and fix something after having already attempted to fix it and only making a bigger mess of things. 🤣

I'm exactly the same as you, however on A.P.P.L.E my A & P.P is left middle finger & right middle finger. It feels off using the ring finger!
