Motor Oil

So motor oil is a very important maintenance item unfortunately many people do not even change the oil on time in their cars.

What motor oil brand do you stick to, do you have a favorite?.

I been working on cars since I was a kid and growing up Pennzoil was always the go to. I even used Pennzoil as recent as a few years ago. However the reality is all motor oil sold in the USA has to meet the same requirements, look for the donut seal if it is there and meets the requirements the oil is good.

Over a few years I started running Supertech Conventional in my Dodge and it did good as expected, the Dodge is no longer with me I sold it and just purchased a Chevy S10 which in the coming days I will be doing the oil change on it as well which I am happy about because the original owner has a shitty FRAM filter on it replacing that with a Ac Delco.

I already got the Supertech bought for it and the oil filter, just got to get off my lazy ass and do it.

Also Supertech oil is the same exact oil as Amazon Basics its all from Warren Distribution for those interested in making a switch and that prefer ordering online.

So what about you what do you prefer? And you know what for the hell of it also share the oil filter brand you prefer. I stick to OEM. Ac Delco for Chevy, Mopar for Dodge, etc.
Liqui moly is what i use for my car
If I am on a budget I like to use Super Tech. I always go with High Mileage Full Synthetic and add in about half a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer and a bottle of Rislone Engine Treatment. As for oil filters, I use Super Tech or Mobil 1. I’ve heard CarQuest filters are pretty good.
It largely depends upon what motor is in the vehicle, and what the history of it is.
!'m the 2nd owner of my ranger, so when I bought it, I used some seafoam about 500 miles before I changed the oil, and then I used a semi-synthetic, and then switched to a full-synthetic later on. I generally use Royal Purple in it, with a quart of Lucas, and either K&N or Mobil1 STP oil filters; and I change it quite regularly, about everyt 5K miles or 6 months, as I use heavier weights in the summer than in the winter; I'll also change it at 3K miles if I've been abusing it, spending lots of time on unpaved or off-road, or towing/hauling/altitude changes more than 500 feet or so. I'll also change the rubber on the plug if it's been leaking, or investigate and troubleshoot if I see any noticeable shavings on the magnet of the oil plug.

On my old diesel, I use Rotella or Mobil1, with two quarts of Lucas, and generally a NAPA filter. I also check/change the rebreather filter on the air cleaner, and I check/change the water filter in the fuel line. I generally take the old stuff and thin it out with something and dump it in the fuel tank when I fill up next, as that old motor loves to drink that stuff. Especially if/when I change the tranny fluid, too.

If I happen to have another gas beater around, I generally use Mobil1 stuff, probably the high mileage synthetic if I know the seals are used to synthetics, or pennzoil if it's older than '03, usually with a mobil1 filter, or an OEM if I really don't care or plan on keeping it around.

I generally try to use better than OEM components, because I expect whatever I'm driving to perform, and it's easier to upgrade during maintenance than it is to repair because of a lack of it, or for exceeding the manufacturer's expected driving patterns. I use seafoam to clean and flush the engine whenever I just get something, especially if I don't know much about the history, and I'll use different additives based upon what kind of issues/noises/problems I'm seeing. I'm a big fan of the Mobil1 filters because they're a bit tighter but more restrictive than OEM's, so they keep the oil cleaner, and I'll use K&N filters if I've had it awhile and I know there aren't any issues. I will definitely change my driving habits if I notice anything amiss, but I am partially preferable to slamming the pedal to the floor when getting on an interstate or freeway, so I try to use the best stuff I can. Even in some of my old beaters that do 0-60 in something like 20 seconds.
I use Motul for my bike and Castrol for my car. Never been disappointed. We just need to make sure we use the right oil for the engine. Weather conditions play a role on this as well.
I am using shell for my car. it is good and easily manage my car for 45 to 50 days
Royal purple is all i use with plex filters /s

I would if I changed the oil in my car but the dealership does it for $60, why get dirty for something I do once a year?
I drive so little I need very little maintenance.
Pennzoil synthetic all the way for me. I have a 2006 crv and change the oil every 6-10k miles. have had no issues. But don't drive much at all.
In my opnion, it should be Valvoline SynPower 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil
