What are some options I have to develop android apps with a tool?

I have a C/C++ programming background but that is strictly only for desktop apps and some microcontrollers. I want to build a simple 'game' for Poker to help me practice (not really a game but I think it'd still fall under that category).

Java isn't the only option and while we're on the subject of JVM compatible bytecode; Kotlin is currently the preferred way to develop Android applications since Oracle and Google are in a major legal dispute over the usage of Java:

Additionally, there's more than just Java && Kotlin:

• C# / Xamarin

• JavaScript / React-Native

• Flutter

• C/C++
