Organ donation is pretty amazing.

Just over a year ago, my stepdad had a very sudden death and it has been devastating for my whole family as my mother and stepdad were only married for 5 months when he passed.

We all agreed to allow his organs to be used for research and to potentially save someone's life and today my mother received a letter from a man who is now alive and healthy because of my stepdads organs and I just think this is such a heartwarming read and it's brought a smile to all of us.

I'd imagine getting a letter like that would be rather emotional. It's always nice to hear there was a little good that came out of the bad. May he rest in peace.
You can be proud of your stepdad.

Organ donation is the last gift someone can do and it's very gratefull usually for the family of this person. :)
That's cool dude. Emotional but good times.
Amazing bro, these words don't have price.
Organ donations are really very essential and an awesome good gesture.

What seems weird to me is that afaik donors and recipients dont know about each other i.e. its totally anonymous. So howd this guy know whose organs saved him?

Maybe it's not anonymous in every country
Accept my condolences buddy and don't let your memories hurt, let them bring you relief and memories of beautiful moments you spent with a person who is now far away from you.And with your wonderful gesture, part of him will continue to live in the people to which you and your family have helped.

It's an awful thing to experience and I hope everyone here doesn't have to experience such a thing either.

But yes it's a great feeling to know that my step dad has helped someone live their life in such a positive and thoughtful way :)
That one pretty cool and good deeds...it can really saves some life.
I admire those people who decides to give organ donations.
We are all going back to dust some day, donating organ makes life more precious.
Fck, nice one. Heartwarming to read that.
This is amazing. i am also registered to be an organ donor incase of death happens to me.
This is the best thing any humanbeing can do in my opinion
Good deeds make a long distance.
That’s incredible to hear man! I know someone personally who did the same. He was brain dead for a week and they couldn’t save him, but they kept him alive long enough to harvest his organs and I believe it ended up saving someone’s life if I’m right. It’s an incredible thing. I am an organ donator as well, and I only hope that when I go, that I can save someone’s life or just even improve their quality of life.
That's amazing man, be proud.
