[Fugg]

Can someone please explain to me what the motive is behind craigslist scammers? I am looking for somewhere to rent and I always run into scammers who try and convince me to send them the "Craigslist verification text"... I am assuming so they can post another listing?
However, what does this do for them?

As far as I can collect, they are posting scam listing in order to scam people to make more scam listings? Just don't understand the tactic and ways of craigslist.

[Method]

I use Gumtree (pretty much craigslist for aus I think) and have ran into so many scammers recently. They'll text me first and then try get me to email them so they can organise 'couriers' after they send fake payments.

[Drug Problems]

Its just a way to continue making listings. Shifting the illegal blame on the person who gave them verification.

They sign up and want your verification code so when craigslist goes to see the join info it'll say your number and then they untie the number most likely and scam for money too
