Follow a Member Notifications

We are contemplating adding a notification system for new threads by a member if you Follow that member.

I'd like some feedback on the idea. Do you support it? Would you do it differently? What concerns do you have? Is this a bad idea?

Just express yourself on what you think about HF having a member Follow feature with notifications just like threads/forums (Push, PM, or Email).

This is something Xerotic and I have considered more recently. Maybe it's time we add it. But before we commit, I'd like some community feedback.

Thank you.
I wouldn't use it to be honest.
EDIT: Now that I think of it, you could potentially follow your favorite programmer to see new releases. I would consider using it for the extremely HQ profiles on here, yes.
I like the idea, and I would follow only few members, 3 tops
RENT THIS SIGNATURE SPACE CAUSE I NEED BYTES TO GAMBLE WITH
tbh it would only be useful for a few people but i mean, sure
I would like it if you could filter or choose ahead of time what you'd like to see from that member. Like for example, and I say this with no offence intended, but I like to follow your crypto posts but wouldn't necessarily have interest in other posts so wouldn't want to spam my notification feed with ones I'm not looking out for. Could that be possible?
I like the idea.
You can already "stalk" other members by constantly checking their post history. Adding this feature does not give any new "ability" to members which means it should do any big affect in terms of abuse.
This just makes life easier for users to follow other users. The same way you follow on social media.

Personally I would use this new feature.

It's important to note that this is about newly created threads only and not posts.

Everyone would subscribe to Stanley and put all the check-in reminders out of business. 😯

I actually did not think about that!

(Imagine some members never thanked me for doing this wink wink)

I like the idea. I would use this feature to follow new threads from admin and staff, as sometimes I forget to go into this section or see important threads a bit late.

It would be an excellent addition to the community, and speaking for myself, I'm quite finicky and won't follow anyone or just a few. Assuming that I follow someone who's not that active, so that person won't make any threads (It's my assumption).

Besides, taking another example of "following a member." If I follow someone who is into programming, and my interest lies in Hacking, but I intentionally follow them. The result would be not checking their thread(s) or check for a moment, but won't interact with it entirely, but I won't be interested in it.

P.S.: Maybe my opinion seems absurd, but I know Omniscient and Xerotic put their time and efforts while coding/setting this, so I wanted to be honest with my feedback. Lastly, I'm sure many would be interested in it since you know the community trend. ;)

Would it be similar to having followers on other social platforms? Such as a follower counter and view your followers and other people's followers as well?

I definitely like this idea, I can think of a few members I’d follow.
