So I lost a pretty good job at Amazon today over my bullshit criminal background check that was all over nothing in the beginning. How's your day going?

So a couple years back I got some chemistry gear because I was in university at the time I had some credits from first year so I needed basic practical knowledge to get into the foundation degree. So I get raided out of nowhere one morning for the suspicion of making explosives which was pretty funny seeming as everything I had was non lethal & basic. So I was taken to jail had all my possessions taken at the time & because they found some other substances in my possession at the time it went from suspicion of making explosives to manufacturing. But the truth is the only substances I had in my possession I made were ayahuasca & mescaline. The rest of the substances I had collected in my safe over the years I'd never even consumed like prescription drugs etc. So at the time they confiscated the substances there were trying for manufacturing on the ayahuasca & mescaline at the time of arrest the ayahuasca was unclassified I'm sure of it, this was around 3 and a half years ago in the UK. So I get released by the end of the day to come home to nothing I get appointed a useless solicitor who didn't wna help at all so he eventually decided not to represent me. So after years going by & being re-arrested again & being
wrongfully incarcerated for most of the day over information then already had, to come home to nothing again. I get my court hearing. They really pushed for an example out of me by the looks of it I really did try to get the message across in a statement for the intentions though before hand. So I get like 10 counts of possession mostly psychedelics & prescription drugs in B & C. So they stuck me with manufacturing ayahuasca which is now apparently a class A substance in the UK. Regardless of the statement the substance or the intentions they seen Class A, Manufacturing, Possession & Substance Abuse. I've never been in trouble with the law before btw. So I was looking at 2 years prison time & by the end of the court hearing it came down to 180 hours of unpaid work 20 days of community service & a sure charge.

I'll tell you guys the truth cos I literally don't care on here. Well it's obvious anyway I'm basically a post child for the first person to get stuck with manufacturing ayahuasca because it's a dangerous class A substance now. The rest was like I said they were substances I've just never taken & have built up in a safe place I'm sure many others also do. But because this is all on my criminal record & it's unspent I can't even get a job to make an honest living. I lost my studies in university after everything was taken out my life that was history. Amazon even told me it would be a minimum of at least 5 years before I could even re-apply. My daughters gonna be 10 in 5 years I'll be 33. So here I am with nothing left trying to make an honest living being denied the right to work like I'm supposed to choose a life of crime. All I'm tryna do is make an honest living & be around my daughter n shit again have a chance at a life but nah this shit comes in the way. But I mean look what it's over I mean why me?

It happens dude, I'm a felon and I get the same treatment when looking for jobs just keep applying to places and you'll get something.
Can't really blame amazon on this one though, we all know background checks are huge in the employment world and the best way to pass one would be to have a clean record. If your in the US (depending on your state) most companies can't deny you a job for something that comes up on a background check 7-10 years ago.

Just keep moving forward and do your best and you'll be alright.

Wait, so you already had the job, and they later found out about the criminal background after you'd already been working there?

Or was this an interview and you were only turned down because of the background check?

Amazon is typically fairly lenient with backgrounds as long as they're not violent, theft, or drug related.

Why didn't you pay for a better lawyer? Most free lawyers appointed by the governemnt are paid a fixed salary ( while other lawyers get paid per case basis ) and they have no incentive to go the extra mile for you even if you're innocent. They just want to get the case done and over with as soon as possible. If you paid the money you might have gotten a lower sentence etc. Definitely worth the money for the freedom.

Well if you want to earn some money, there are plenty ways to do so.
