How a beautiful day turned into a nightmare

As some of you might know, I work as a freelance camera operator and I was hired to film 2 episodes of a TV show for a big company that we all know but whose know I won't disclose.

The show is about people (3 cast members) doing freaky, weird, and daring challenges to win the final prize of a 6 figure money amount. It's the same 3 people every episode.

These 3 people are very good friends but they tend to get very competitive and fierce with one another. Which mostly leads to some really fucking juicy content. But today it went wrong on a whole bunch of levels.

The challenge was as followed: They would spin a wheel that contained numbers 0-10, every number was linked to a spicy sauce, 0 being no sauce and 10 being the hottest sauce in the world. If they ate the sauce and didn't spit it out, they would get the number of points linked to the spiciness of the sauce (0-10). Didn't take the challenge and passed it on to someone else? They are forced to eat that sauce but if they fail both of them lose the number of points. On the board there was also a bomb, if you hit the bomb, all your points would be gone.

Here goes:

I started my day like normal driving to the office getting my stuff ready and then going to do the filming location where I was waiting for the rest of the crew to arrive. Whilst I was waiting there I got out the scripts and got them ready. I checked everything and made sure that everything was according to plan. Everything was going well, we were planning on filming a Christmas episode so that it could be edited on time and posted around Christmas time.

We were setting up the set which took about 2:00 hours to decorate everything, put up Christmas trees decorated those put up lights cameras everything that was needed to film this episode for the show.

The set was looking absolutely amazing everything was planned into the details nothing was wrong we were ready to rock this thing and film everything that we needed to.

The cast was all ready to go but what they didn't know was that they only got about 200 milliliters of milk for the 3 of them. Meaning that they had to share it amongst the 3 of them.. 2 of the cast members couldn't really get along today and they were fighting about who would get the milk. So. When filming started we thought to ourselves "all right this is exactly what we wanted no issues right now", but one of the cast members grab the milk and took it all for himself whilst the other cast member was just being angry about it.

They started arguing and fighting a little bit which is usual for the show but one of them actually tried to grab a glass from the other one and the glass broke in his hand. Shit went down, everybody got angry, we calmed them down like normal, we fixed the hand since nothing was seriously bleeding.

One of the cast members had already gained 30 points by getting the hottest sauce available 3 times but he also hit a bomb and the cast member he already had beef with laughed at him in the face. He didn't like that and they started arguing again but this time it started getting personal. They started getting into why they would fight with each other and we said to them "Listen, guys, this is still a show don't get personal". We took a 5-minute break.

Since the camera guys still had their headphones on and the cast was still wearing their wireless mics, we heard that one of the cast members' dad died earlier that week due to Covid. We noted that down and we asked him if we can tell everybody because it was kind of important and he agreed to it so we told everybody so that we could at least take it into consideration.

With that taken into consideration, we started filming again, and once again it hit a 10 out of 10 on the wheel so they have to eat the hottest sauce. What happened this time. Is that the milk was all done, but apparently one of the cast members had kept some milk for himself while the others were not looking so he started drinking the milk and they got angry at one another and they started screaming out personal insults.

These cast members have been working together for 2 years so they are personally very known to one another and they know personal details about one another. They started screaming some stuff that was really inappropriate at that point everything went to shit. They started getting mad at one another they started basically fighting which wasn't unusual but they actually start throwing glass and tableware to another including knives glasses plates you name it.

When that was happening we kind of got angry at them for breaking our shit and not following basic rules but we told them to calm down and they didn't. The people around me, producers, director, etc tried calming them down and keeping them separated but it was a bit of a useless try because one of the cast members ended up throwing the director to the ground. At that point, tables started flying and glass was just everywhere.

They were still fighting and basically rolling around in the glass. The camera guys and I decided to put the cameras down after we gave each other a nod of confirmation that we had the juicy stuff and we took them apart.

The cast members are now refusing to work with one another and we had to call it a day. Luckily we were on the last round so we will probably be able to push out an episode. Sadly the second episode we were supposed to film after that didn't get filmed due to what happened.

Here is a pic of the aftermath:
Looking at the pic again, I am missing A LOT of shit that was still behind me lmfao.

It always made me laugh my ass off that these spoons can either be considered as very fancy silverware, or something a heroin addict made. 😆

Great read- glad to see you were still about to make $.

Is it any different with COVID, like do actors and everyone have to distance and wear masks?

Generally, we do these covid speed tests. But there were too few people for that. We just wore our masks and gloves.
Actors/Cast still do speed tests so that we don't have to worry about distance in the video itself.

they are the end result of a magic trick 🙃
Normally, spiciness tempts anger. Taking spicy food regularly increases anger. That proved with your cast members.
