Intel's next-gen CPU worth waiting for?

For a gaming CPU, is it worth waiting for Intel's Core i7 11xxx series?

Or should I just get the Ryzen 5800x right now?
Intel claims their new generation of processors will have double-digit percentage IPC improvements, but at what cost? Their new processors will still be on the same outdated 14nm process and requires a ton of electricity to power them. They have a chance of leapfrogging AMD in terms of slightly higher gaming performance, but team red will still hold the crown for almost every other category, including productivity workloads.

Personally I wouldn't buy a 14nm CPU in 2020.

"double-digit" 10%ish probably.

Ryzen 7 5xxx series has almost 20% IPC from the previous version.
