As is stands right now. Below is a short statistic of the blogs available within 9 pages currently viewable by the overall userbase of Hackforums and within this specific metric is a time span of two years with the latest blog dated for 11-22-2019.
Total amount of blogs per page : 5
Total amount of blogs over 9 pages : 45
Total amount of unique posters : 31
Total amount of individuals who have reached 5 blogs for award - 1
Now out of the simple sample size, I did some short skimming for individual's and noticed that most people either gave up after 2-3 blogs and never posted again or the service being provided was being used more to showcase very basic information or guides that you could probably piece together here on the forum; no insult to anyone.
My proposition is change the award, make the number higher, lift some of the regulations on what is acceptable for a blog, or completely remove it. The service is not needed, a blog or moreso a truncation of weblog was usually created for some type of discussion or open ended area for a mashup of thoughts and opinions to coexists, most if not all of the currently viewed blogs are either guides to make money or just general guides. Anything else is a short summary of an event that has happened with little to no discussion in the comments. Now again I realize that the sample size for this was absurdly small, but the time span should be big enough to get the bigger picture.
It's either people want the award, are waiting for their stuff to get approved and end up waiting too long and give up or they get denied with no explanation on why and end up just not even caring about the service after realizing how pointless it is. Harsh words and criticism, however if you include a system supposedly aimed towards creativity and openness and the requirements are basically up in the air and up to the discretion of unknown people; go figure people just want the nice shiny award goal.
Interesting didn't even know there was a blog, or the option of blogging really

Most people not knowing it's a service is also food for thought.
Nobody knows really who's on here willing to give valid advice, or wanting to dump their thoughts into text wanting structured discussion and criticism.

It is something that sadly I wish existed beforehand, I honestly also never really looked for this feature not really expecting it as well, I can see how it can be missed or just simply overlooked like in my case, I would use it if I had known about it, I always assumed the awards from it were from doing forums posts of Higher quality...

Very true. Having an award for HQ however would be nice.

it would give the added benefit of not having people just spam junk posts ideally, and make content that is of better standard.

Also give the writers team something to do other than copypasta news. Just because you're a leader doesn't mean you can't participate.

Should write about the hackforums drama and underlying issues, REAL JOURNALISM
I agree that we should update the feature. Originally I had intended to do a larger change incorporating the Blogs but not sure that's viable anymore.
I will review the situation and see what we can do to improve Blogs.

I think the aspect of an award goal specifically for blogs and not the content coming out of blogs is shoehorning the feature. If you encourage the content put into it and not the award I'm sure more people myself included would engage with it more often.

You don't really have to automate it though.
Grammar checks shouldn't be an issue considering it should be a collaboration of thoughts and opinions, moderating it to be anything but that is just a section for people to make guides and get an award. As it stands now the system encourages mindless guide making and or semi-thought out articles that briefly outline a current event with no discussion towards it.
As a generalization I made two blogs that were later denied; I had put some effort into inserting some mild valid criticism, extremely good advice and time. No explanation on why they were not accepted and I cannot review what I had posted for later consumption. For which I would be happily grateful if I could see those again as there were some valid pieces of advice I would later like to share with people; now cannot be shared as they are gone in the void.
I'm Stanley HF's helper bot. This OP (original poster) of this thread wants everyone to see this page and has elected to bump it to the top of the showthread listing. Since HF doesn't want a ton of LQP (Low Quality Posts) this is the best method of bumping your content. There is a small βyte fee for each bump. Any OP can bump any of their threads on HF from the linked icon on the top of their first post.
If you haven't already read the first post of this thread we encourage you to do so.
Thanks,
Stanley

It would be awesome to see them better integrated.
Design feedback I sent someone on Discord:
You know what would be cool
on google docs right, when you make text into a header or whatever, it shows on the side listing the different headers that you can click to take you to that section
That would be pretty useful for the hf news on blogs for readers of it
And another way to improve blogs
I don't like the recent articles sidebar on the blogs at the moment though, that just hurts my eyes and impacts my reading experience
It should show 5-10 max if it is going to be there
Should show other articles by the poster there and info about the poster before it shows recent articles imo
I also think the content area should be a bit wider
It looks squashed to me
blog posts and blog comments quick loves.

It's a good formatting idea however I believe personally that the core issue is that people are just award hunting. I mean that's what the service is for however at least make criteria so that people can't just copy paste guides over or make hashed out news articles into a 2000 character blog. It's not really interesting.

That would be a nice addition as well.

That's easy to do but lower priority.
