Product idea for cyber criminals.

A large amount of high profile cyber criminals get busted when their computer is unencrypted i.e Ross Ulbricht. Using an encrypted storage is useless when you get raided and don't reach the power off button in time or your laptop gets grabbed in public, I just thought of a device you'd wear on your wrist almost like a watch that is always connected to your laptop/desktop, If you go too far away it'll power off your computer, example if you are over 5 feet away for over 10 seconds. There'd be options to change the distance/timing as well as a panick button, any thoughts?
I like your idea it may be overkill for most cyber criminals, however for the ones like Ross Ulbricht it would come in handy. Some people have cameras on entrances of their place and keep a kill switch for their power next to them.

It is pretty niche but I can see it being a must have for marketplace owners and sellers.

What about if you are in the bathroom? or fell asleep with it open.
I think anyone on a black list would get caught in their own time depending on the crime. There is way too much tech nowadays to be 'unknown'. If you are not a cyber criminal there are also other ways to stay away from the radar.

It's kinda hard to stay under the radar when owning huge blackmarkets :P

That's true.. but if you play your cards right and let the vendors work for you then it is easy to stay under the radar. I believe things like encrochat was made to catch cyber criminals.

Criminals use all sources of payment, but only those on lists get caught - crypto wasn't made for transparency, instead just to say fugg you to the institutional banks which defraud everyone, freeze their money and use it at THEIR own values.

I hate the government and will never follow their words, only a few know what goes on behind the scenes and once you understand that the real crooks are the government then you will do absolutely ANYTHING to avoid the rat race.
If I find a product like this for a laptop using somekind of a chain I would buy it.
These are dead man switches. There was one for journalists a few years ago that worked similarly.

Damn, I guess it wasn't wildly implamented?

It seems to me that this is a brilliant idea for a great device. After all, many criminals like Ross Ulbricht or Roman Seleznev (one of the biggest credit card sellers) were detained just by tearing away from the computer while it was decrypted. I think that if you patent it, you will be a millionaire in a few years😎✌
This place could be yours, click here for details. 📢

No such thing as overkill when you're playing this sort of game, in my opinion. That said, I think a couple of outside cameras to cover any entrances to your place with some added distance so you can see a bit in advance and a power strip near your foot is more accurately effective than any form of proximity kill switch.

Windows has something like this?

You can connect your phone and if it leaves a certain distant it (for me locks my desktop) unsure if it has the ability to power down or not athough.

A watch or something with a kill switch/turn off switch would be sweet as though

This doesn't cover protection for when you are outside, you can't watch cameras or stay home 24/7
