It was probably due to a backup HackForums was going through at the moment when the popularity was given I believe. Usually a small window when it does happen.

Definitely catches the eye though.

I have seen this happening on my own sites. Here it happened if the database was slow at writing meanwhile I pressed “submit” twice, each request checked the database, there was not a rep already, so the code would insert a new row, then 2 rows was sent to the database.
