Is it important to spoof MAC address while hacking and why?

Hi,

is it important to spoof MAC address while hacking and why?
Thanks.
Spoofing mac addresses is most of the time done to pretend to be a certain device you’re not. ARP spoofing is an example of this.

But like lowkey suggested, if you are relying on hiding your own mac address, you’re not off to a good start.

It's still important to think about this, if you want to be as anonymous as possible. Get a laptop that cannot be traced back to you and spoof it's mac address as well, double layer of security.

I understand the super-safe approach with having separate laptop for this kind of activity, but using Kali Live should be enough for start, no? Let's say a hacker doesn't have much of $$ resources right now and he has only 1 laptop.
MAC address is lost when data leaves Wi-Fi router and travels to the internet, no? However I can imagine only 1 case of getting fuKCed if real MAC address is sent to some Wi-Fi router and then someone investigates the router's configuration, sees the MAC, then finds laptop of the hacker and compares these MACs. Are there any other scenarios of possibly getting fuKCed?
... another though that just came to my mind is that when the hacker travels with his laptop and connects with that MAC to some public Wi-Fis, he leaves traces and THAT can be possible problem, however it would require some huge investigation, which normally doesn't happen for small cases. Any other possible dangers here ... ?

No, routers save devices that have been connected to them, devices are identified by mac addresses. But most routers will not log the packets you send. Ofc Kali can be enough, just don't do anything illegal, start with CTFs from vulnhub and you should be able to practise without having to worry about anonymity.
There is lots of scenarios that could deanonymize you, the majority of them does not involve your MAC at all. The possibilities to get deanonymized are endless, just start learning about anonymity and you will get what I mean.

Not at all because you wouldn't be using your own PC for anything illegal.

Yea, I have basic knowledge about these areas. However could you please name few no-so-obvious scenarios that would deanonymize someone? Thanks.
