So I recently typed a username in a private group, without using the [mention] MyCode, that user did not have any access that subforum.
Anyhow only like an hour later, that user messaged me in a convo what's up? Never have I interacted with this person before, is this a bug that they get alerts, even for sections they cannot enter?

I've had a different issue. I had Zero add me to daily check-in mentions and I never get them even though I can see I'm there.

Mentions do not require the user to have access to the forum or thread they are mentioned in.

Exactly, it definitely leaves members in suspicion.
Groups do this some times to troll lol

I have that same issue, but I think mine is due to the special characters in my username.
