Is that a good at Woot for an older Macbook? Just wondering if it's worth buying for my kids college as a laptop.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
Sometimes buying older hardware is not as nice because the software updates for that version aren't as sleek.
Looks like it is sold out on woot, but is there anywhere else this is available? This is not a bad laptop for the price.
Wow, sold out. Dammit. Well, sometimes these deals roll around again, was it a reasonable price for that MacBook? Just don't know if it will run latest MacOS version or how relevant that is.

Purely depends on major now adays. I wouldn't say its bad for certain stuff like taking notes and stuff. You really don't need anything insane unless you're doing autocad or other intensive stuff.
Not sure what os itll run
I love Apple, have an iMac myself. I think this is worth it.

Let me point out that purchasing a 128GB SSD laptop today, may it be a macbook or not, is risky. Storage runs out very fast and when dealing with Apple products it is better to spend more and get a powered version rather than their base level one.
I wouldn't buy anything below 256/512 GB storage if I were to buy a new laptop and use it for no less than 3 years.

Even 500GB is sketch for me - but if you're using it for literally word docs, etc, I think you'll likely be fine.
Let me add that updating MacOS usually requires 10-15 available GB too. I've seen people dealing with limited storage (120/128 GB macbooks) and moving their files to external HDD just to perform OS update, then moving data back.. this is something that imho should NEVER happen.

True too but updates are essential.. you can't keep your laptop without updates unless you are perfectly aware of what you're doing and use it in a diligent manner. Unfortunately these two conditions don't apply to the solid majority of people.
Hm...funny about the storage limitation because I just got a new (used) Kindle Fire because I'm tired of dealing with my 6th generations storage limit of 16GB even though I have a 64GB sd card in it. What sucks is that a huge amount of storage is on-device used by Alexa which I do not use (refuse to do so). Saw on Woot (coincidentally) they had the 8th gens with 32GB internal for just $35, it's a used model but for that price I don't care.
So if storage is a problem then I'll look elsewhere. I can be cheap because I am not a Mac guy and I want something like this for my daughter. Don't feel like dropping $2k on a new MacBook Air.
must have sold like a hot piece of cake. The product got sold out when i came across it.
In Australia, there is an M1 Macbook for 1300 AUD (928 USD). In my opinion, super good value.

Macbook air doesn't cost 2k, you can get the student discount without signing up to anything and the M1 is perfect for your average user and more.

I'd wait to buy if you can and wait for the apple student specials, normally around the time summer then you'll normally get a pair of airpods with your macbook.
