Quite often daily, threads become semi active when OP has been last seen 7 months ago, and or, the thread is 1+ year old. Maybe there is way to easily block a thread x amount of days old to be bumped again?
Just an idea. 👍
Auto closing threads after 1 year would do the trick, but could lower the activity on HF.

Yeah thats true, Its just so likely the OP is not involved, or the file link is broken, etc etc.

While I don't really disagree with the idea of auto-closing old threads to avoid gravedigging, there are actually times where old outdated threads are still useful. I'd imagine the way to get around it would be auto-close X amount of time after the Last Post on the thread rather than the date of Thread Creation or Last Seen of the OP.

That makes more sense yeah.

Could set it so that it auto-closes after say, 3 months since the last post. And for it to be re-opened the OP would have to open the thread again themselves.
Wouldn't be much of an issue since any upgraded member has the ability to open/close their own threads as long as Staff didn't close it. Would just mean regular members couldn't reopen their threads, which would be yet another reason to upgrade if need be.

I see where you're coming from, as well as OP.
A lot of old bumped forums are leeches thinking something still works, often times a out-of-date money making method. It is quite annoying to see those threads keep surfacing
How ever old threads like coding tutorials, programing videos, guides like this would get lost as well and those are very useful.
It'd be interesting to see how this is implemented but auto-closing threads I don't think would be the answer.
As long as the post is relevant to the thread, what’s the actual harm? If a member is spam gravedigging without reason, they’re handled accordingly.
