Mac Millers Testimonial,

HOW IT STARTED

I feel like many stories that have to do with Hack Forums begin with the pursuit of knowledge, and I am no exception to that cliché. I first came onto Hack Forums in 2013. I had no idea about anything to do with hacking, but I was very curious about the entire thing. What originally sparked the interest was my Facebook being hacked by what I'm assuming was a R.A.T or a Keylogger, though I couldn't really say. It really only happened because I had blown up someones' base on a Minecraft server, or maybe the two didn't correlate, however it happened, it gave me that spark of wanting to know just how and why something happened, and how to prevent it. Do you remember finding Hack Forums for the first time? I googled Hacking forum (literally the first one that popped up) I was 13 and so scared of what I had stumbled upon I thought I was gonna be arrested by the internet police. You also felt intimidated by high ranking members, because they felt like secret keepers of wiztech mystery, and honestly many still are. You felt so bad being on this site just because it was new and you felt part of something different, and, even though knowledge is legal, what you're learning about, or what you're learning to prevent, necessarily isn't. It felt cool at 13. That's where my quest for knowledge began. I quickly learned what the board had to offer, diving into E-whoring techniques, coding (mainly batch, which was really fun for 13 year old me,)
how to setup and prevent basic computer viruses like Remote Administration Tools and Keyloggers, as well as remove them. I'm serious when I say this website completely 180'd my understanding of OpSec. I've learned how navigate through Phish attempts, how to prevent information gathering, reverse engineering, just to name a few things! This place was an actual goldmine of information for a young middle school me, and I'll definitely cherish the memories I had being a Low Post Lurker. Though I learned many things here, the first thing I learned about was Brute Force Attacks, as well as proxies.

HIATUS

People grow and change with time. Eventually I stopped learning about computer information. Of course I always knew I could come back to learn more, so I focused on learning other things. When I was about 16/17 I got into making music. This was still working with computers, but I loved the idea of playing instruments, and learned a lot about playing guitar, as well as music theory. I learned over 5 years how to mix and master music, and can confidently say I have proper skills in working with Ableton and playing a multitude of instruments, including piano, ukulele, and bass! Around this same time though, I was getting more heavily into drugs. I would smoke a lot of weed like every teenager, and still do now, at 21. But at around 18/19 I started using harder drugs, like LSD, Ketamine, MDMA, and Cocaine. Although I think drug usage in moderate amounts is fine, what I had was a problem. and it took me a few years to figure that out. As a result, I sort of lost a lot of memories from my elementary school/middle school days. Of course I can recall key words, but the actual concepts are completely lost in time. Luckily, this website is a library of useful information.

COMING BACK IN 2018

In the summer of 2018, I first made this account, and I originally didn't come back to learn to hack again. I was actually in active addiction,
and I knew this place had a pretty solid Crypto Marketplace that a lot of users were active in, so I decided to check it out, and ended up doing a few deals for some BTC. I stuck around and posted in the lounge pretty actively that summer, and built my account up a bit. I had met a friend named Clarence, who I talked to for a bit regularly before losing contact. He bought me l33t for being active. What I discovered on the site that summer, was the multiple sub-topics Hackforums had. I was actually active in the Religion, music and songs, as well as vice sections more than any of the hacking or video game type topics. At this point, I was more into the life section, which is okay. Hack Forums provided great discussions on that front too, I was able to discuss my passion for music and give my opinions on mixing technique, as well as discuss my vices, and spiritual views. There's more than a few Hack Forums users who use, everyone is different. I still smoke pot (Canadian!) but I have my addictions under control. Lurking Peoples posts in Vices genuinely helped me cope with my own drug problems later down the road. eventually I stopped posting, getting busy with school, and work, and went back to lurking every now and then, until....

THE CURRENT TIMELINE

Now in 2022, Years after I first discovered Hack Forums, I find myself coming back, ready to learn more topics. Still to this day, I find this website has information useful to me. My current goals are to learn python, and to learn about networking and databases, and maybe how to make gifs, or advanced photoshop in general. I also want to create tutorials in the music section for Ableton production, eventually!
In conclusion, Hackforums has given me a place to learn for over 10 years of my life, and nowadays is one of my most visited social website, other than YouTube, reddit, and Facebook. and I would happily recommend any friend come here to learn about anything computer related. Thanks HF.
