Installing package in linux

Alright so I'm new to Linux. I got this Linux install for my tablet. Its Ubuntu 14.10. So far I have figured out the vnc and all the good stuff. Having two issues. 1 I have a python zip that was a snapshot so I had to first mount it as a add-on container. Got it figured out and even figured out the installation part. however if I type python it still goes to 2.7 as default not 3.9 So that is first issue. Second issue is I have a set of files that I downloaded. Its a tool to use in Linux. However I can't figure out how to add it into my Linux to make it executable. So if there is anyone out there that could help with this it would be great. Please message on here or my telegram.
Why are you using Ubuntu 14.10? That's extremely outdated.
Simple answer is that was the prebuilt package someone sent me. Had I the knowhow to build a Kali or something like that on a tablet I would do so. I'm open to suggestions and help.

As for the first problem, it seems to me that you need to change the default path to the python interpreter in the appropriate version so that you can refer to it from anywhere on the system or run it manually with the command:

Code
python<version number>

In the second case, if you have a file / script that you want to run as an application, you must first give it the appropriate permissions in the system (the chmod command is used for this) and then run it in the terminal window. However, if you have the installation package of the given software, you can install it through the package manager appropriate for your linux distribution. In case you only have the source code of the program, you need to compile it first. For more information on compiling the software for your operating system, see google.

Hope this will solve your problem👍
