Just spent some time this past summer in Italy and Switzerland -- looking to start planning/booking stuff for next summer. We want to go to Bali or Greece, looking for recommendations on both.

Where to visit? Best area/region to stay? Any recommendations on stuff to do? Food to eat? Places to see?

For Greece, I've heard to avoid the touristy areas like Santorini or Mykonos for anything more than a day or two (but my gf does want to go there at least a bit). Been looking at Crete, Rhodes, Paros and Naxos so far.

In terms of Bali, really open to anything, been looking at villa rentals with private driver and chef, but really not much beyond that.

Cuz im from greece , i suggest you to AVOID at any cost the islands you had mention in your post!
You can try Crete( has many awesome places and they are very kind ppl).
Also another nice vacation place is here : Monolia Beach, Lichada 343 00 (google it to take the results ) I bought a home near that , and i can admit is one of my best investments of my life ! But below i wrote you something else
But keep in mind i would prefer bali cuz it's my lifestyle , driver and chef sounds amazing..You have my vote for BALI!
Also i dont know your budget , but greece will cost you less than bali 100% , but if you can afford bali , yes go for it (my opinion)Keep in mind , im just boring from my country :D

Just for greece just watch out on resturants there's some that if they know you're out of towner they will rip you off.

Italy was the same, just all about how you carry yourself I'd say. I also don't mind taking a tourist upcharge occassionally.

I'm from greece, please dont spent more than a day in Athens unless you have to.

Any reason? I like the history of Athens and I was keen on spending a few days there for it.
