Isn't it weird how LQ most forum sites are these days?

I've always wondered why Hackforums attracts pretty HQ people. I know it attracts LQ people as well but they are well moderated. I have joined a few forums over the years and most forums include something like this...

Someone posts a topic, and then there are just hundreds of replies saying:

"cool"

"thx."

"thx man"

"good to know."

And that's literally the entire forum. Best part is these forums have like memberships that cost hundreds of dollars and i'm like... for what? Anyways, have you noticed this as well? Very annoying/bizarre.

I just wonder why HF has remained pretty HQ over the years and all these other forums haven't.
Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior! And I, Igon! Your fear made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon … But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!
Dunno, HF is the only forum I visit lol. I have no reason to use others.

Hackforums is the only forum I use and a lot of places just have users dump accounts logs and it takes a reply to be able to access the original post which in turn provokes LOTS of LQ spam.

Basically what jcole said, HF has a different system to handle posting for content exposure, also LQ posters get treated as such and get the "hate" they deserve so it all adds up to make this forum so much more HQ than any other forum I've been to.

I don't think it's weird at all actually, I think it makes sense.

You take things like social media into consideration, things like Vine (7 second videos), TikTok, Snapchat, etc.. There's soo many apps we use daily that are made for short attention spans and no actual interactivity. It started with MySpace comments, then Facebook, those weren't so bad. But then you got Instagram, Twitter, and the huge load of messenger apps. People became used to things being simple and short, 1-3 worded replies.

Forums are like the old school version of all those apps imo, so when you start mixing the two together like the new ones you see today that usually crash and burn within 5 years (mostly less) time, is because it's mostly a bunch of younger kids (16-18-21 at the max) who are sort of "transferring" that short, quick, no attention span type of response from social media platforms to forums.

Well, why add in all the extra fluff if you don't have to?
