Looking to get started on pen testing any suggestions with courses that are worth taking ?

You can start learning programming first , the rest will come to you eventually.

Depends on how much you are able to spend. If money is no object, you can go straight for SANS courses and private tutoring.
If you are going a free route though, there are resources on YouTube and Udemy (warez disallowed). One I like to suggest is: Pwnie Island https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhi...nQtssdAwgG
This gamifys the process literally, but requires at least some knowledge of python.
Other options would be hack the box challenges on sites like https://www.hackthebox.com/ which has an academy that walks you through some of the machines, or https://www.vulnhub.com/ which is similar but more community driven.
