I played a lot in younger years, mostly on PC (aside from a GBA, a NDS, a PS2 and a Switch). I now feel myself watching tv more often than playing games - which I think mostly is because of the ease of use; you just start a show and you're done.
I have a PC with a decent GPU (GeForce RTX 2060) and a somewhat big monitor, but I mostly find myself unhappy with the experience - and I have a hard time pinpointing why that is. I end up playing games for a while but rarely finishing them. I played some on Stadia while it was running and ended up finishing AC Odyssey, but not a lot more than that - I recently moved and had to change from Ethernet to WiFi and the move kind of ruined the experience (and then of course, the whole thing with Stadia shutting down).
I have a history of putting most of my hours into MMORPGs, but I kind of don't enjoy them anymore, aside from having RuneScape 3 running while I'm doing other things, for a passive income of endorphins.
I bought Elden Ring when it released and it was a great game. I finished a few bosses but then I put it down and never picked it back up again. I also put some hours into World of Warcraft (both Dragonflight and Classic WotLK) and ended up feeling that it was way to repetetive.
I think that there is a few reasons related to this:
So I am considering buying an Xbox Series S (or X, but I am not sure I can justify it) so that I can play games from the couch instead.
Pros:
+ Can game from the couch
+ My GF (who lives with me) can also play games
+ Gaming on a TV feels more immersive
+ Game Pass might allow me to make a half-assed comittment
Cons:
- Steam Library gets lost (have to rebuy games if I want to)
- Not sure if it will fill the void
- Cannot gain passive endorphins from RuneScape while gaming from couch
- Somewhat expensive
Another alternative is to buy a gaming chair and overall try to raise the gaming experience I already have access to.
Pros:
+ Get to keep steam library
+ Cheaper
Cons:
- Gaming chairs/Office chairs look atrocious
- Might not actually solve the problem
- My PC is likely going to be outdated before the Series X
A third alternative is to move the PC to the living room (without screens) and run SteamOS on it.
Pros:
+ Cheapest
+ Gets to keep steam library
Cons:
- Will likely have to wipe the current OS
- Mouse & Keyboard gaming might get awkward at the living room table (but can likely buy a wireless pair, but the living room table is somewhat small)
- Cannot gain passive endorphins from RuneScape while gaming from couch
Until further notice I will attempt the SteamOS version as it's very easily reversible as a demo. Might buy a Xbox if I see that I like the experience more.

I think that there is a few reasons related to this:
- I don't really have a gaming chair (I have a regular chair!)
- I work at a computer all day and it feels somewhat off-putting to come home from work and sit in front of a different computer
