$20 LTC - Creativity contest

This is a creativity contest meaning that the most creative and useful answer wins the price. Here are some simple rules:

This is for members with at least 10 posts!

- Winner will be announced 15 days from now so 11th of May
- I will test the submissions I like and post feedback
- Even if I don't find any if the submissions useful there still be a winner on the 11th.
- Only one submission from member so try to think before posting. If you post twice I will consider the first one only

Now the actual contest scenario:

Let say you have the following array:
[1,1,2,3,4,5]
Next number in this array will be 6, so it will become [1,1,2,3,4,5,6]

Now we remove the first and last digits of the array so it becomes [1,2,3,4,5]

We again remove the first and last to get [2,3,4,5]

Now we expand on the array by adding the next number which will be 7. This is important, every "next" number of the array will be the sum of the current first and last

So now our array looks like this [2,3,4,5,7]

We are going to remove first and last from it to get [3,4,5]

And one last time we expand with another digit to get [3,4,5,8(5+3)]

I hope you get the idea.

To win the contest post what you think will be the best way to remember what should be removed or added at any given time in large arrays with 10-15 digits . No electronic devices can be used in the method. Example of more complicated arrays following the same rule: [3,4,5,8,11,14,17,21,24,27,30,33] -> [4,5,8,11,14,17,24,27,30] -> [5,8,11,14,17,24,27] -> [5,8,11,14,17,24,27,32] -> [5,8,11,14,17,24,27,32,37]
Let's explore the possibilities of the universe and make this world our playground
In the given array [3,4,5,8,11,14,17,21,24,27,30,33], we need to remove the first and last digits to get [4,5,8,11,14,17,21,24,27,30]. To do this, we can group the remaining digits into pairs: (4,30), (5,27), (8,24), (11,21), and (14,17). We can then remove the first and last digits from each pair to get [5,8,11,14,17,24,27].

To add the next digit, we simply need to calculate the sum of the current first and last digits, which is 5+27=32, and add it to the end of the array to get [5,8,11,14,17,24,27,32]. We can repeat this process to get the final array [5,8,11,14,17,24,27,32,37] by adding 37, which is the sum of the current first and last digits.

Using this pattern and sequence-based method, we can easily remember what should be removed or added at any given time in arrays with 10-15 digits, without the need for electronic devices.

It's refreshing seeing a contest that isn't just your usual quick love, +pop, and post to enter. Nothing against those of course as giveaways are great and generous regardless, but something like this is always nice to see in the mix to sort of shake things up. I'll be curious to see how many people get involved. Best of luck to everyone and maybe I'll come back to edit this later with an actual entry haha. Thanks for hosting javier!

I appreciate the kind words! I was aiming to make it fun and fresh but also the submissions might help me a lot irl ✌ I hope you join the competition!

Just submit what you would do to remember the numbers.

5 days left of this competition. I can't figure out how to tag people but so far aetherhf is winning with the only adequate submission

Edit: The tag actually worked :D

I want to join this competition.

My submission, 15 digits, example Array list

1. [1,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,5] --> insert next number is 6 , [sum first + last digit (1+5)]
2. [1,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,5,6] --> remove the first and last digits
3. [2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,5] --> again remove the first and last
4. [2,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5] --> insert next number is 7 (2+5)
5. [2,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,7] --> remove the first and last digits
6. [3,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5] --> again remove the first and last
7. [3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5] --> insert next number is 8 (3+5)
8. [3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,8] --> remove the first and last digits
9. [3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5] --> again remove the first and last
10. [4,4,4,4,5,5] --> insert next number is 9 (4+5)
11. [4,4,4,4,5,5,9] --> remove the first and last digits
12. [4,4,4,5,5] --> again remove the first and last
13. [4,4,5] --> insert next number is 9 (4+5)
14. [4,4,5,9] --> remove the first and last digits
15. [4,5] --> again the first and last digits
16. []
End

Good luck to everyone.

Does this mean I can't write code to problem-solve this?

Good luck to everyone.

So this is the problem that needs solving. Written like that you can refer back to the previous arrays and easily figure out what comes next.

Maybe I wasn't clear in the description of the task. A valid submission is a way to remember the current array without being able to write or type the previous arrays anywhere.

USEFUL EXAMPLE: I am currently drawing the arrays using peanuts. That way I know exactly what the 1st and last digits are.

Although aetherhf submission is not ideal, it is still a good effort to simplify the process and get you a better change of remembering.

It means you cannot use your phone or some device to write down the numbers from array 1 to array 12, so you know exactly what should come in array 13. I guess I should exclude pen and paper too because it is again a super obvious medium for collecting information.

The creativity contest means that members are invited to submit unusual ways which they might use to remember large arrays of numbers

I hope more people will enter after this post and the explanation

Closing the thread. aetherhf is winner. Send me LTC address in PM and congratulations!
