DIY Door Lock

After exploring the possibility of developing a FaceID door lock utilizing cv2 and a Raspberry Pi, I came to the realization that implementing a keypad-based solution with a 4-digit code would be a more feasible approach.

I acquired a plastic electronic junction box to serve as a centralized enclosure for my project components. I strategically positioned the keypad on the front panel and carefully designed a corresponding aperture behind it to accommodate the cable routing.

Additionally, I have taken the initiative to create a meticulous 3D model of the project using Tinkercad. This step has been instrumental in ensuring a seamless fit for all the components involved.

I have initiated a thread to gather valuable insights and opinions from fellow enthusiasts who might have valuable input regarding my project. Furthermore, I am going to incorporate a two-factor authentication (2FA) system utilizing SMS authentication codes.

Neat project, this just reminded me of an issue I'm having but I bought a simple adhesive lock cause I'm lazy.

After careful consideration, I have made the decision to invest in a high-quality electromagnetic door lock that boasts an impressive weight-bearing capacity of 60 kg/132 lbs.

I'd look into using Authy/Google Authenticator instead of SMS, but having 2FA is still a good idea.

Indeed, taking into account the specific context of the door lock's usage within my personal space, namely my room, I have considered the practicality of implementing Google Authenticator. But considering my mother's reluctance to download additional applications, I have concluded that utilizing SMS authentication would be the most straightforward and user-friendly approach.
