A twist on the classic "who would you invite, alive or dead, to a dinner party" question. Imagine you're trapped on an unknown desert island; which 3 people would you like to have with you? The rules are, you can pick anyone from history or now, alive or dead, but not family, and you must state the reason as to why, and how long you think the four of you would survive.
My picks:
Jim Corbett - Legendary dangerous animal hunter with incredible survival skills and the ability to plan meticulously.
Norm Macdonald - He would be able to find humour in anything and keep morale up, he had some real creative skill in woodworking according to some friends' accounts so would be useful too in that respect, plus he was my favourite comedian.
Kim Da-young - Stunt woman with serious speed, agility and real world ability to forage and prepare impressive meals from a small range of ingredients.
I think with the four of us, we could forage everything we possibly could, and then harvest the wood from trees to create basic cabins and structures that would be useful for long term stays. Corbett would help keep us safe from unknown threats, and plan mini expeditions to gather more resources or scout out the island, and Macdonald would keep us positive and laughing when times are tough while helping to create the structures needed. With my own woodworking/building experience, we could have enough decent structures to stay relatively safe and protected for some time, and Kim would help with construction, defence and food preparation, so we can have our basic needs taken care of. I think we could survive for a fair few years, and it would be doable for the first few without too much issue, until food supplies run a bit low, in which case we will have to take more risks for food. My estimate is 3 years without too many extreme issues, 5 with rough times every now and then, and 10 at a push overall before the isolation has slowly driven us completely crazy.
Just a fun thought experiment, interested in seeing what you guys think!
