Lets ask the Real Question. What makes you want to be a Hacker?

So lets down to the Brass tax.

What brings you here, and why do you want to become a Hacker, or for the more experienced fellas, What made you want to become what you became?

Is it Financial Gain?
Wanna Hack the CIA and Secret Governments and see the real agenda?
Maybe your a social justice warrior and want to change the world by disruption of offensive entities in the world?
Maybe its the idea of International Fame and Notoriety of being a World known Hacker.

Shoot your stories.

I'll gladly start.
First a little back history about me;
I like electronics and computers in general, they fascinated me since I ever came across one. As a kid when I was 8 I was what us older generation know as a Latch key kid. meaning I had a key to the house to let myself in after school until my parents got home from work.

That being said, I wanted to understand how our fridge kept my delicious food cold., So I grabbed a screw driver and got to work in taking it apart piece by piece. I had everything laid out organized on the kitchen floor by the time my parents got home.

Naturally, all hell broke loose when Moms and Dad came home.
Mom lost her shit. Dad none too impressed either, but he pulled me aside after Mom quieted down and told me, if your ever going to disassemble something or take it apart you have to map it step by step to be able to re-assemble it. He was not actually mad, the fridge was old and needed a new one regardless. But It was in my nature to want to understand the detailed indepth workings of stuff, so when computers came along and it was all circuit boards and code, I knew I was gonna fall in love.

And then my first confrontation and challenge:

Code
C:>\

This damn Black screen and White text.
Invalid Syntax or Command
Invalid Syntax or Command
Invalid Syntax or Command
Invalid Syntax or Command

Well, FUCK, I know its not, what are the commands????

MS Dos command line. the first hurdle to understanding this amazing technology was how to give it instruction.

Time passes as it does, now in my teens, a dial up 28.8 baud modem and ICQ, Napster, and IRC...
It happens.

My first experience with the Scary Spooky Hacker Culture.

KeYbOaRd and MoUsE LOCKED OUT

- Starts moving on its own.
.. o 0 ( Someones controlling my machine.... )

BLUE CHAT WINDOW
[Typing....]
I 0wn you... Ha Ha Ha...

[File explorer opens to my MP3 directory]
ALL MP3's DELETED

[Desktop colours change to god awful Blue, yellow and red theme]
[Start menu and task bar, get rotated to top of screen and start button to top right]

At this point, basic instinct kicks in.
I pull the telephone cable from the wall.

So here I am 14 year old me, just wanting to chat with my girl and listen to music, am sitting back looking at my computer totally fucked up with a screen resolution thats gawdy, colour scheme enough to give someone epilepsy, and missing my years worth of MP3 downloads now.

Here was the kicker, and the start to me interest.

Was I mad? Well, not happy loosing all my MP3s, granted. But overall Not one bit

I had to now know how whoever this person was managed to do that to me and my computer.
It bothered me at night knowing this type of skill and system use was possible and I just had to know how it was accomplished.

After much detailed research into my system and using my friends computer at their place to go online safely to find answers, I determined I was infact infected with a Trojan Virus. (Now known as RAT's or Remote Administrative Tools)

And the culpret that brought me into this industry of Cyber Security and Exploitation one might ask?

That's cool and unique story.

I would love to write one myself, but literally no one would believe me. It would involve many unbelievable stories that happened in-real-life.

It is also not the right time for me for doing so.

Ive been told to write a biography about my life. If anything its been far from boring.
The challenge.
My first computer came at the tender age of 31. It was a JP5 tablet. I couldn't close the apps. Didn't know how to even try. That was 5 years ago. Sure I'd used computers before my arrest in 2005, but that wasn't even a monthly occurrence. About two or so years ago I was gifted the rooting of my JP6 tablet as a thank you for assisting dude in getting to the law library.
I don't like asking how something is done if I think its within the scope of my ability to figure out myself. So I stated exploring. Reading toybox command files paying attention to the discussions of those in the know. Luckily another friend of mine was one of those and the type of person who teaches by asking questions and dropping hints.
Long story short; I'm now one of the better people working on rooted tablets at this camp. I've helped someone with some of the hack the box machines, read some short books on Kali Linux, php, and other random sections of whatever book or manual I thought would help at the time, all to get me to this point --- I don't know shit.
But I want to. I want to solve the puzzles handed to us in the form of prison tablets. I want to be able to talk to my loved ones when I want, have phone sex and see her. I want the ability to google information or YouTube new magic tutorials. I want to support myself and not rely on my mother or wife. And I want to help people in here live more comfortably.
The challenge made me want to be one.
The little bits of extra freedom make me fight to keep it

Amazing how Prison changes your outlook on life and freedom. I've been there myself. You get a LOT of reading ton on those ranges lol
- If you still got the tablet I know a lot of people want the OS dump and a way to jailbreak the Jay6 tablets.
