Law Firm hacked, FTX & BlockFi Data Breach

The law firm handling the FTX & BlockFi liquidations got simswapped, they stole information such as

FTX accounts name, IRL address, email address and FTX balance..

puts a lot of people at risk of being kidnapped, killed or extorted in some way.

some low effort phishing emails already being sent around

not sure, i'd assume so because kroll would definitely have that

but it's not confirmed, they might of just been storing the data at the time FTX went down

It does not appear trading/withdrawal/deposit information was included, simply final balance.

Oh my lord, you think that's the risk? Most of this is just going to get sold in dark markets and used for phishing or social engineering.

If people are willing to kill and kidnap, there are easier ways to make money than crypto hijacking.
It’s gonna be use for a phishing attack pretty much. Doubt anyone’s gonna get kidnapped, there’s a ledger db out there already and I haven’t heard any stories of that

it's absolutely happening, 3-5 years ago; you could make millions from simswapping and directly draining peoples coinbase etc

these days people don't keep their crypto wealth on exchanges/sms 2fa websites.

there's been countless articles this year alone of crypto millionaires being found murdered, you can look it up and see cases of them being kidnapped too (there are literally telegram groups where you can pay $10k or split the profits to get people kidnapped; and they are real, literal video proof of it.

99% of the pressure these people receive will be harmless phishing/simswap attempts, but real life risk is 100% a risk for some people on that list

ledger database is personal data such as addresses, there is 0 way to tie identities to their wealth.

Um...I said "social engineering" which is how they do the simswap. That's not kidnapping or murder.

I'm aware of a few people who died that were claimed to be in crypto. It's nonsense. No connection of their death with actually stealing their crypto. It's just conspiracy theories. You can't tell reality from fiction anymore.

most of them dont even social engineer these days, they just pay someone working there to do it/hacked rdp depending on carrier i think

but like i said, isn't as effective these days because most people aren't keeping their wealth on sms2fa exchanges, which is where kidnappings and shit has come in.

murder unlikely in the states of course it's mostly in europe/south america, but seen plenty of kidnappings happening.

taken from a criminal telegram:
kidnapping 5-12k (they also do profit splits)
shooting house/car 3k
armed robbery 3-7k (crypto targets)
stabbing 2.5k
jumping 1.2k
beating 1k
brick/molotov at house 750

You got problems. Because almost all of that criminal for hire shit is a scam.

And South American has a kidnapping problem period. Unrelated to crypto. Did FTX even have license or operate in that region?

Go ahead, pay someone on the dark web $1000 for a beating on me. 100% won't happen and you'll be scammed.

i'm not a criminal i'm not doing that shit but it's definitely real lol, don't get me wrong, i agree with you to an extent... 99% of it is harmless idiots going around scamming. but there are definitely real places online to get this done, they make big money from it.

You're easy manipulated.

man i love you and always enjoy our debates but you sound like one of those nuts that thinks everything is manipulated by the government and they are out to get you

crisis actors, epstein still alive, i dont even know what else

I think you are the one that is nuts for being so gullible Vitaly especially from news sources. As someone who is very frequent with the dark web, Omniscient is spot on what he said, 99.7% are scams and if you do find something, it is a honeypot (FBI). It's easy money these days, especially with crypto. You have to think differently sometimes, the truth is not always what you read/see, especially when it is for the people.. it's the opposite I know.

i'm not talking about the darkweb, actually had a conversation with a friend earlier today about how all the inexperienced people think all the crazy shit happens on the darkweb, when in reality it's the clearnet on forums, even social media where it happens. (i also mentioned to him how 99% of things on the darkweb are just government honeypots)

you are both speaking on things you don't know about though, there have literally been people arrested from these types of groups (with evidence the crimes they committed were hired), there are real accounts from crypto people being kidnapped/extorted through real life intimidation. if you ask doxed high profile crypto influencer they are all scared of it, and know atleast one person who has had something happen to them, it happened in miami last year (iirc, might of been 2021) I believe during the time of a convention/combat sport event.

if you don't believe it, go into the BS group (not linking it for obvious reasons) and order a brick/molotov on your own house, tell them you are a crypto millionaire and where you live and see if they come.

literally agreed with omni that 99.9% of use with this info will be phishing, and 99.9% of death threats are fake, but if the wrong group decides you are one of their targets it's absolutely real that IRL things can happen, whether you live in the safe states/european countries or south america. violence to extract money is profitable and it happens; if you think the world is all nice and safe, and that all violent things are controlled by the government to instill fear and create law abiding citizens then idk man you are a lost cause
