Hello, I am looking for some guidance on where to start when coding a RAT with GUI.
I am looking for what language is the best for this sort of project?
Where is the best place to start?
Just general information on if there is some experience i would need before starting on this project.
I have heard the a good place to start is to learn how to make a reverse shell but have no idea where to start.
Any information would be really appreciated on this as it is for a project.
👍🙂

You're going to need a lot more in-depth understanding of how a RAT works before you could hope to code your own. Maybe try checking out some github repos for source code you can go through. However, if you aren't even familiar with how a reverse shell works then you're going to want to do some more learning before jumping head first into something you don't understand. Not trying to bash or anything, just encouraging you to learn to walk before you run.

thank you for the information.
Which languages are you familiar with, i would say start GUI in C# .net winforms and start with a basic reverse shell. Study network basics, ports, sockets, tcp, udp :)

thank you, I am only familiar with python.
Definitely check out Xeno RAT, AsyncRAT, and Quasar RAT, (all available on github) these are all C# .Net projects but you will find most rats are, few rats are programmed in python as it is just easier to program user interfaces with the .Net framework.
All three of these projects have a reverse shell function, but first start by looking at the basics, such as how socket communication works, and the format in which data is sent (personally I love the MsgPack library found in AsyncRAT). You'll need a good understanding of how the client and server communicate before you will be able to create any of your own functions.
Good Luck!
