Money unless the titles include all the benefits that usually come with them. Former high ranking government officials usually get some pretty sweet medical still after all without having to do any more of the work...

For me it's 50/50, when it comes to work I would prefer to do something that I'm happy with n get decent pay for...I mean, what would I do with a fancy high title, tons of heat on my back and crap pay, that's not healthy nor does the title pay any bills. Currently I got something like 35-40% more than what people in the same role as me get (not including the entry level positions) and my title is something like "on-site support". I'm the most expensive support person that my company has and I get a better salary than my boss gets.
Money (and health) over title any time.

for me it's a balance, but cash > titles. The cash I earn is usually in line with the title, so it goes hand in hand, but I did take a raise w/ a title that in my opinion doesn't sound as good - but is the same job.
