sort replies by number of hearts/likes

some thread replies are good but some have way too many comments to go through all the pages of them, would be nice to be able to switch to sort by number of heart/likes to at least see the replies the community liked the most

I think reddit(#4 most popular social site) does something like this with upvotes, but reddit is trash imo as its free to upvote whereas with HF you'll have a lil skin in the game as it cost bytes to upvote anyways, not sure if I am explaining this good lmk if you understand and what yall think

While you're at it, add the ability to sort a user's threads by hearts too.
Changing HF to function off the popularity of a thread is something I have considered. The more Reddit-like option. I fear that it would be too drastic of a change. If I ever get around to redesigning HF's index page I would definitely attempt to do a thread listing based on popularity.

There are already reasonable sort options by default on MyBB such as Replies,Views, and Date. You can even change the default in your profile.

You seem to be asking about showthread page though. Let me think more on it. Because there could potentially be a way to execute that with the Thread Options dropdown by adding "Sort by Love". But realistically a thread will probably read all fucked up like that. Won't make sense. Is that even really worth my time to develop a feature which will ruin thread display? How many people are actually going to use it regularly? Will it enhance user experience or just be "cool"?

the current sorting will probably still be the main one used(although its interesting reddit defaults to most liked in its sorting), "sort by love" I'd personally use when there are dozens of replies to a good thread and I cant be bother to sort through dozens of replies, I also think the community will be more incentivized to use their "quick love" idk how often its used now? but if people know it might help the community see a good reply earlier I can see people quick loving more. It can also be kinda used like a better X/twitter community notes where hf users just quick love the reply that helps counter or inform the OP

idk how hard it'll be to implement, maybe chat-gpt would know. Not sure if I've seen another forum do this yet other than reddit but seems popular there.

maybe do a poll on if HF would like this to gauge interest, hope others chime in on if its easy or not

EDIT: another thing is it might encourage more posting, I think when a thread has like 3 pages of post people may feel like its not worth replying anymore as people wont see their post, but if they know they have a chance to climb up the quick love ranks and have their post seen they will post even on page 14 on a thread. I think this might be why reddit defaults to sort by upvote(though hf prob should still sort by time and only allow users to change it to sort by quick love if they want)
