I am looking for a way to reverse engineer and view/modify the code for an exe file, it is called Psiphon 3 if that helps anyone. When I downloaded it, it only came with the exe file and a ".orig" file if that helps. I am on windows and have tried using resource hacker but either it couldn't find the code or there was too much for my computer to handle (Its not a great computer) and it didn't load.
How to view/modify the code of an ".exe" file |

I was looking at Ghidra before but if it doesn't work I will try the other 2, thank you (Feb 22, 2024 03:23 PM)typhoon Wrote: I was looking at Ghidra before but if it doesn't work I will try the other 2, thank you What about Ghidra didn't work? If you throw the file into Detect-It-Easy, what does it say the file is? If it's a .net assembly file, something like dnSpy or Rider will work very nicely. If it's a normal 32/64 bit PE file written in something like C/C++, IDA or Ghidra are going to be a good bet. (Mar 1, 2024 04:53 PM)notagh0st Wrote: What about Ghidra didn't work? I forgot about it for a while until now as I never finished setting it up, whenever I launch it I get this message: **************************************************************** JDK 17+ (64-bit) could not be found and must be manually chosen! **************************************************************** Enter path to JDK home directory (ENTER for dialog): What JDK do I use? I have tried downloading some and they haven't worked. I could probably do it on my own but to make it easier and quicker do you have a link to what I need to use or instructions on how to find it? This will take care of all the path variables for you and then it should work fine. If you're still getting that message, enter the path to which the MSI installed the JDK, probably in some place like C:\Program Files\Java\ etc. Hope this helps. |
