Network Protocols Tutorial

Hello HF family! I have done a basic outline summary of understanding different network protocols.
This is useful in beginner hacking, by knowing which network types are which.

You can find out what ip/port belongs to each protocol.

➡️ Transmission Control Protocol (TCP): TCP is a connection-oriented protocol that ensures reliable communication between devices by establishing a connection, and retransmitting any lost packets.

➡️ Internet Protocol (IP): IP is a standard protocol that governs how data packets are routed from one network to another. It is responsible for addressing and routing packets across the network.

➡️ Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP): HTTP is a protocol used for transferring Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) files on the World Wide Web. It defines how web browsers communicate with web servers to retrieve web pages and other resources.

➡️ File Transfer Protocol (FTP): FTP is a protocol used for transferring files between a client and a server on a network. It allows users to upload, download, and manage files on a remote server.

➡️ Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP): SMTP is a protocol used for sending and receiving email messages over a network. It defines how email servers communicate to route and deliver emails to their destinations.

➡️ Domain Name System (DNS): DNS is a protocol used to translate domain names into IP addresses. It is essential for accessing websites and other resources on the internet by resolving domain names to their corresponding IP addresses.

➡️ Secure Shell (SSH): SSH is a protocol used for secure remote access to a computer or server over a network. It provides encrypted communication channels for secure data transfer and remote management.

➡️ Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP): SNMP is a protocol used for monitoring and managing network devices, such as routers, switches, and servers. It allows network administrators to collect and organize information about network performance and availability.

➡️ Border Gateway Protocol (BGP): BGP is a protocol used for routing and exchanging routing information between autonomous systems on the internet. It helps determine the most efficient paths for data packets to reach their destinations.
