Macbook M2 or Mac Mini

So I have been thinking of upgrading my laptop to a Macbook Pro M2 or maybe just purchasing the Mac Mini and hooking it up to my displays as a desktop.

Does anyone have any opinions on either of the two? How do the macbooks perform compared to an i7 9th gen
I would go for the MacBook as it’s more versatile, you can either plug it to a dock station and use it as a « desktop » or take it with you and go anywhere you want.

Regarding the CPU I would go for the M2 as Apple is taking the M chip path for its computers, some apps may not be compatible anymore in the future, as well as for OS upgrades.

However it depends on your needs. What do you plan to do with it ? And if you already have a laptop you maybe don’t need a second one ? I’m not up to date regarding fixing Mac Mini computers but it may be more reliable and more easy to fix than a MacBook where everything is welded inside ?
I'd go for mobility. Mac mini's are tough but it needs monitor for output whilst macbook's can easily be hand-carry anywhere you want to take it. Its SSD anyway so no need to worry about the corruption of drives whatsoever. Just opt for higher RAM's if its available in your country and within your budget.

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop currently, with the means to sell what I have now and replace with a MacBook. I probably will go the MacBook route with a M2. I do like the ease of laptops with my work habits.
