So let's talk about HASHCAT.

Do you use it? have you experience with it over the years its been in use? does anyone care to share some tips with the community?

I Myself have recently run into issues with it running on windows 11, for me personally i get SHELL errors left and right or it just crashes. cant even run a speed test sighs

Anyone care to share THEIR experience on the subject?

EX:/ "How to Run HASHCAT PROPERLY" would be a wonderful addition

Or just some external links to some quality trustworthy info.

Working on a project, and would benefit GREATLY if i can get this back to hashing away!! ^_^

Try running it in compatibility mode. I haven't upgraded to 11 yet.

i tried as ADMIN, when u say compatability mode, can you elaborate? that means many things to me lol

When i go to execute a test to see what my hashrate capabilities are it pops up BIG AND SAYS THIS PROGRAM CANNOT RUN ON YOUR MACHINE" error from windows itself. like explorer.exe error lol. and i am running fully updated windows 11 distro

i'm not sure what went wrong.. all was well, then BOOM it just wasnt playing nice. RIGHT around the halving too...... wierd i just noticed that.... the timing is VERY close!!!! hrm.......

like right click - check tab run in compat mode?? (on the EXE?) bc i've been calling it in CMD long as i can remember

Yeah in explorer. Never tried this with a CLI program, but try Properties > Compatibility > Compatibility mode. It was working after the latest Patch Tuesday I assume?

This was my thoughts. i just switched Distros, and had never had issue with it on Kali, didnt rly stop to think that hey, this wasnt made for windows with the CMD prompts and whatnot. i chalk it up to windows.

I just use an AWS Cloud rig, I can spin it up and down automatically so it doesn't run when it's not trying to crack. This means the cost is pretty reasonable for the absolute beast hardware you get.

Shoot me a convo and i'll send you some scripts and a full setup PDF, had it saved on my Google Drive for a few months now.
