STOLEN LAPTOP!

Hello People,

A friends laptop was stolen from his car. Any ways in which i can hack into it and find the location? Find my mac is turned on but has not updated?

Any help is much appreciated!!!
Hi friend, you must give more details. Is it an Apple device we're talking about? Is any kind of Apple account logged in to the device? Was it password protected? Is the latest update from the thief or from your friend?
The thief was smart and wouldn't connect it to the Internet before it was wiped.
Thief is probably smarter then the average Joe and wiped all partitions, I am not sure Find my mac will work even after partitions have been wiped out.
Yeah, unfortunately if the thief wiped the partitions like the other users explained. Not much you can do about it. I'm not sure how easy it is to do that for apple no a days. They're pretty good at keeping their OS locked down.
Funny enough I just finished resetting a number of different apple devices for work. Phones and iPads are a bit trickier since resetting them pretty much requires the Apple ID it was setup with unless it's an incredibly old OS version running. Laptops, you legit just need to wipe the drives and start from scratch, it's stupid easy. Where it gets tricky is if the device is enrolled into an ABM (Apple Business Manager) at which point anytime it connects to apple (always) it'll start trying to pull a management profile automatically if it's been setup to.

Thief might not even be smart, may have just not connected to wifi yet because he can't login.

That laptop is GONE, if it had insurance, it's time for a claim. If it didn't, then damn in the future don't leave a Macbook in a car and get it insured.

Dont you have to be connected to a wifi network for find my device to work? Even if its been turned on, without an internet connection the tracking will not update.

The only thing you can really do is report it to Apple, provide them with the serial number in the hopes they can block it - if thats possible, never used a mac but i know its possible on iPhones at least.

Sorry brother, its gone for good. Keep an eye out on ebay.
Always willing to help, learn and teach. Hit me up if you need help.

I figured the Apple Laptops were pretty easy to get passed the lockout, I couldn't imagine them having some sort of Lock-down that would be hosted separately from the drive.

So pretty much take the drive(s) out , reformat and re-mount the drives. Install OS and Boom.. Fresh System, New Install and a FB Marketplace ad getting put up.
If you lucky he will connect to the internet. If not you cant pretty do anything
Interested in an update Solus hope things are well, or at least better.
Appreciate all the help with replies. Device was seen at a new location however due to the location police said no help possible - Useless as always 🤦🏼‍♂️. Currently away with the friend so not possible to go.

Again, Thank you for the help people 💯
