I need to unlock a pdf so that I can edit it/use mark up on my iPad is there a free way to do this (I already paid for the pdf but they have it locked so I can’t edit)

PDFs aren't locked that I know of, but they aren't editable. Not unless maybe you have Adobe Acrobat.

is it password protected? if so send me the hash if ur able to extract it somehow not sure if pdfs have hashes lol. or send me the file.
or find password bruteforcer for pdfs on github called pdfcrack if i remember correctly and run wordlist.

if u simply want to edit the pdf there are tons of online websites that let u do that. or even convert it to docx and edit it that way.

Yeah that was the issue I ended up using an online editor to ad a couple words then downloaded it to be able to bypass that read only lock
