Story behind CJD
Once upon a time, in the not-so-distant future of 2021, the world of cryptocurrency was like the Wild West—unregulated, chaotic, and full of potential danger. Digital outlaws roamed the blockchain, leaving a trail of scams, hacks, and money laundering in their wake. The good people of the internet cried out for justice, and the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) heard their call. In October 2021, the DoJ announced the creation of a National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET), a group of brave digital lawmen and women tasked with policing the Wild West of crypto. The NCET was a diverse bunch, drawing on the expertise of the DoJ's money laundering, intellectual property, and computer crimes divisions, as well as US attorneys' offices across the nation. Led by the fearless Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Polite Jr., the NCET set out to bring order to the lawless world of cryptocurrency. They tackled the most notorious digital outlaws, including ransomware groups, money launderers, and those who used crypto for illegal activities like drug sales and weapon smuggling. But the NCET wasn't content with just catching the bad guys. They wanted to make the world of cryptocurrency a safer place for everyone. They worked tirelessly to educate the public about the dangers of crypto crime and how to protect themselves. They also collaborated with other law enforcement agencies and international partners to bring down the biggest and baddest digital outlaws. As the NCET's reputation grew, so did their ranks. In 2022, the FBI joined the fight, creating a "virtual asset exploitation" unit to help the NCET in their mission. The DoJ even appointed a new crypto czar, further strengthening their efforts to combat crypto crime. By 2023, the NCET was a force to be reckoned with. They had recovered millions in stolen crypto and put countless digital outlaws behind bars. The world of cryptocurrency was a safer place, and the people rejoiced. But the NCET wasn't done yet. In 2023, they announced plans to double their team, adding even more experts to their ranks. They were determined to keep the Wild West of crypto safe for generations to come. And so, the Crypto Justice Division (CJD) was born. A shining beacon of hope in the digital frontier, the CJD continues to fight for truth, justice, and the American way—one blockchain at a time.
