Hey everyone,

It's Perfect here. Let's talk about a cool way to "hack" your typing speed. Improving your typing speed is super helpful, whether you're coding, writing reports, or just chatting. Here’s a quick guide to help you out because people with brain injuries like myself always finds myself to be in an undesirable situations when it comes to typing so keeping my fingers steady as I get older always seems to be a fun engaging challenge! But here are a few pointers for my newbs :)

Use Typing Practice Websites:
There are several free websites like [Typing.com](https://www.typing.com/), [Keybr](https://www.keybr.com/), and [10FastFingers](https://10fastfingers.com/) that offer great practice exercises. Spend at least 10-15 minutes a day on these to see improvement.

Focus on Accuracy First:
Speed will come with time, but accuracy is key. Focus on hitting the right keys first, then gradually increase your speed.

Learn Proper Finger Placement:
Place your fingers on the home row keys (ASDF for the left hand and JKL; for the right hand) and use the correct fingers for each key (I actually prefer this ).

Use All Fingers:
Avoid the hunt-and-peck method. Practice using all your fingers to type, which will significantly increase your speed over time. Not your pointers !

Practice with Real Texts:
Use practice texts that are relevant to what you usually type. This could be coding scripts, essays, or even chat messages.

Take Breaks:
Your fingers and mind need rest. Take short breaks to avoid strain and keep your practice sessions effective.

Track Your Progress:
Use tools like [TypingTest](https://www.typingtest.com/) to regularly check your speed and accuracy. Keeping track of your progress can be very motivating.

Stay consistent and patient, and you'll see your typing speed improve over time. Remember, practice makes perfect!

I remember jamming out to typeracer a couple years back, might do it again.. not sure.
This is a fantastic idea. I recommend buying a mechanical keyboard, such as IBM Model M. It increases the speed tactile feedback.
I started out practicing using Typing Master Pro during the mid 2000s which I learned how to do touch typing for both hands and GS (Grass Soft) Typing Software's one hand touch typing for typing with one hand for either both my left hand or right hand since I wanted to be like Battle Programmer Shirase (Anime) back then typing with one hand super fast. Lol.

The past few decades I have been using only both 10fastfingers and typeracer but just two years ago I started out monkeytype as it was recommended to me by my friend. I honestly type fast and use these sites as outlet for stress.

Anyways, if you are a beginner and you are reading this thread and my reply then I highly recommend Perfect's thread as it covers most everything you need for modern times. I wouldn't commend most of the things I have said since I am already an old man and most of the tools I have used are way back from the past. It would be a waste if you guys would explore it, you are all better off following OP's guide.
I learned to type fast when I was young because I was constantly on MMOs talking to other people. I naturally gravitated to hunt-and-peck since nobody had taught me about homerow at that age. I'm consistently at 80-100 WPM doing it that way, so I've always wondered how fast I would be if I learned properly.
The more you type the more you get better at it!
Me and my brother have actually been working on a competitive type racing website. The theme is Sharks.

Check out: https://SharkTyper.com

This is not completed yet. We're done with our Vanilla JS and Front-End for the minimum viable product. We're working to convert it over to
ReactJS which is done but still working on implementing Socket.io and our MongoDB Server Logic. So we can have competitive online typing races
just like TyperRacer.

You will be able to customize your own Shark, the more fish you eat over time your Shark will grow from small, medium, large, and eventually
The Megalodon!

We have a lot more features in mind. Eventually I will make a thread about the website. But thought I might just post it here since you made a topic about typing :D

Any feedback or ideas would be highly appreciated!

Not trying to grave dig, but that website is actually pretty fun. I see great potential in this project! Def fun with the friends for a slight flex.

Thanks man! I appreciate this comment a lot! The project is still under going development. It has been taking longer then expected due to some bugs and limited amount of time I have to work on the project since I'm a parent and work full time. Currently the only one working on this as well.

I did make a thread about how to development is going. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6274452
