What do you know now that you wish you knew in the beginning?

Hi everyone!

So i saw a lot of post with people basically asking where they should start if they want to get into hacking more seriously. I'd like to chnage it up a little bit and ask what are the top 3 things you know now that you wish you knew back when you first started your journey. What do you wish someone would've told you in the beginning that would of saved you from wasted time or headaches you encountered?

Honestly, it's a journey. Part of why I enjoy it, and many others too, is that the entire journey itself is a learning experience. You'll find yourself fascinated with all sorts of new things, and just as frustrated as well. The best advice I could give wouldn't be to "avoid these three things." Rather it would be to embrace everything! If you don't know something, well I can guarantee that there's something out there on the web where another curious mind put up their own findings and explanations. The most frustrating feeling can be hands down when you think something is setup exactly how it should be, you followed all of the documentation to the letter, and it just won't work. I've wanted to put my head through a wall countless times. Then the greatest feeling is figuring it out, suddenly you realize why it wasn't working and every other aspect now makes so much more sense!

TL;DR: Embrace the pain!

Hello there and welcome. For me the best thing I would say to my past self would be to start learning to program and study more in-depth in regards with networks.
It's always difficult since you don't know how things would be without the experience you have...

That being said I would avoid distro hopping.
