I am an absolute noob trying to figure out how rats work.
I downloaded AsyncRAT from https://github.com/NYAN-x-CAT/AsyncRAT-C-Sharp.
Then I started up 2 VPS running Windows 10 - one to act as the server and the other one as the client. I turned off all Windows Security and Firewall features on both machines.
Then I ran AsyncRAT.exe on the server. It created a new certificate and I clicked OK. Then I started AsyncRAT and control window popped up. I checked using canyouseeme.org to see that the listed ports (6606, 7707, 8808) were all open.
Then I copied the stub to the client machine and ran it as administrator. But nothing happened. No clients appeared on the AsyncRAT control window on the server machine.
I feel like I missed some steps. Like I didn't put my server IP into to stub. Did that happen automatically? How do I do that, if that's what I missed? And did I miss any other steps?
Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: I am an idiot. I figured it out. I had to right-click inside the control window and choose BUILDER to actually build the client.
